Managing Change in Organisations Changing from a family business to a real management is a tough job and requires a lot of attention and hard work. To have the responsibilities of a manager from craftsmen is a tough job and requires a lot of work with full efficiency and effectiveness. As in this paper it is mentioned that a business, particularly a family business has now been changed to a real management i.e. a family business of medicines have now been changed to a real pharmaceutical business, therefore now a proper setup, management and proper areas are required in order to work well and to compete with all the other well established markets. (Senior & Fleming, no pg, 2006) TASK 1 The background to organizational change evident in today's emerging global Economy In today's emerging global economy, organizational change has an immense importance and whenever any organization or any business tends to change itself and tends to change its working and setup to a large business or to any real business management then it is a tough as well as an important job to be fulfilled. In this the role of HRM also termed as human resource management is very much important. (Senior & Fleming, no pg, 2006) The role of the Human Resource Manager is basically evolving along with the change in the highly competitive market environment and along with the realization that the Human Resource Management should play a strategic as well as an effective role in order to achieve success for an organization. Those organizations who actually do not put their work, or their emphasis in order to attract as well as to retain the talents may somehow find themselves in bad situations and consequences because their competitors may be working very hard and may be outplaying them in the strategic employment of their own human resources. As the level of competition has been increased to a high level, therefore it is very much necessary to work in a purely strategic and effective situation in order to make sure that all the work which is required is done in an effective as well as in an efficient manner so that the organization itself will not face any kind of loss or danger. (Senior & Fleming, no pg, 2006) Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various claims about how Organizational change might or should be 'managed' Organizational change is no doubt an interesting as well as a difficult task which should be accomplished in an effective as well as in an efficient manner. As mentioned above this family business of medicine is now trying to change itself to a pharmaceutical management firm, therefore a lot of hard work is required. When changing the organization or the firm to a large one, the change should be in an effective as well as in an efficient manner in order to be the best one. Every organization has some strengths or weaknesses which should be managed in an appropriate manner. (Cameron & green, no pg, 2009) Strategic planning plays an important role here in order to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of any firm or organization. When changing to a real management firm one should keep this thing in mind that: What is the present position of the firm? How it is working. What strategies, rules and regulations they are following? Is it competitive enough to compete with all the other markets? These above mentioned points are very much important and should be kept in mind whenever any firm is trying to change itself from a small firm to a real management one. All the strengths and weaknesses should be evaluated. What so ever the weaknesses are, the firm should try to overcome them, should try to make them better and better and on the other hand what so ever the strengths are, the firm should try to make it more and more strong so that the firm can compete with all the other markets and can manage itself to survive. (Cameron & green, no pg, 2009) Compare alternative forms of organizational change and development: i.e. compare contexts where similar 'kinds of change medicine' might be 'applied' As mentioned above, this medicine related business firm is now trying to change itself to a large real management business in order to earn more and more profit and to be the best one in the global markets and businesses. Mentoring is basically examined in the context of the changing the nature of work. In this area, the construct of mentoring is basically expanded in order to consider its use under different kinds of situations which are usually being faced today by different organizations for instance more participative and effective work based arrangements, the corporate restructuring, and also the domestic as well as an international expansion. A typology that actually differentiates the mentoring on two main and primary areas is presented below: 1. The lateral or the hierarchical form of the mentor based relationship. 2. The type of skill development which is usually obtained through various mentoring experiences which can be termed as the job related or the career related. (Cameron & green, no pg, 2009) Various examples of alternative mentoring which can be the best one in order to help all the individuals as well as the organizations or the firms in order to adapt towards the organizational change are mentioned below. Mentoring is basically one of the best technique which should be used in any kind of the firm which is trying to change its position in order to make it the best one so that it can achieve all the required and desired goals. same is the situation with this medicine family based business which is now trying to change itself to a real management firm, in order to change its position best mentoring is required so that they can know that how to change, what steps should be taken and how to make it the best one so that it can easily compete with all the firms in the global market. Techniques and different planning is required in order to make this business firm the best real management one which can easily compete with all the other firms and organizations in the global markets. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) TASK 2 How would you define the role of change agent relevant to the context? Defined by your chosen organization? Change processes as well as the change projects for any firm or organization have now become one of the major milestones in most of the organizations’ history. Due to the extreme dynamics in the external environment, there are many firms or organizations who actually find themselves in a continuous change. They really want to change their position, their structure and thus want to be the best one among all the organizations or the firms. But, unfortunately every change does not led to the best outcomes. If you really want to change and really want to make your firm or an organization the best one by changing its position, then you should follow some guidelines in order to achieve your target. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) There are many change leaders or the change agents who are there in order to help you, in order to let you know that how actually you can change in an appropriate way and manner so that you can very easily gain success. This family based medicine business have now tend to change itself into a real management firm, therefore change agents prepared a guideline for them with the help of which they can change their organizational structure into the best one. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) There are some levels which basically tell us that how the change should be done and what actually is the importance of these kinds of changes which should be taken into consideration in order to make that particular organization the best one. As we have selected a medicine family based business to be changed into a real management pharmaceutical business, therefore all levels which are very much important for changing the structure of an organization should be taken into account in order to change the firm in a real management one and also to gain more and more profits as well as benefits. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) Organizational stakeholders are the one who can also take part in this change process and can make the change for any firm or organization the best one. As mentioned above the role of change agents is actually to lead the firm who is trying to change itself to a right place as well as to a right direction in order to make it capable enough to compete with all the other firms or organization in the global market. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) The term change agent is sometime used or taken into consideration by some kind of misunderstanding. Managers or the employees or the HR professionals have also questioned the value and the importance of this particular role of the change agent in the firm or in the organization. change agents are actually there to lead to, to guide you and also to show you the right and the better path with the help of which you can make the right decision as well as the right choice in order to gain the best position in the society. People actually are unaware from all these facts and are going in a wrong direction. This family medicine based business have tried to change itself into a real management one, therefore change agent is needed in order to help them, in order to guide them and in order to tell them that how they can change, in what ways they should change, what steps they should take and what strategies they should use in order to change in a better way and also to gain more and more income and profit. Broadly speaking the role of change agents is to: 1. Enable people to work hard, to work with full efficiency and effectiveness. 2. Make them capable enough to deal with all the hard and fast rules and regulations of the global markets. 3. To make them capable enough to deal with all the problems which they might face while changing their firm to the real management one. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) These above areas are the important areas which should be taken into an account in order to be the best one. Every change agent basically wants to make his or her respective organization to change itself successfully and every change agent basically tries a lot to work in an appropriate manner so that one can very easily change itself in a different and unique way so that it can also compete with the other leading markets in an effective as well as in an efficient manner. These are the foremost duties of each and every single change agent and it should be taken into an account in order to make that firm the best one and same is the situation with this medicine family based firm. It has also taken help from the change agents so that it can change itself into a real management one in an appropriate and effective manner without facing any kind of problems. (Jackson & Debroux, no pg, 2009) TASK 3 By effective change we mean to have such kind of change with the help of which we can make our firm or organization the best one which can deal with all the hard and fast rules and regulations and can also make sure that all the work which has been done in the past and which will be done in the future will lead this organization or this firm to a right and to a better future. As mentioned above, changing is a difficult task and not every organization or firm can change itself to a real management one. It really requires efficiency and it also requires real affectivity with the help of which you can make the changes in an appropriate manner. (Mullins, no pg, 2007) In this organization which is the family based medicine organization and it is trying to change itself into a real management one, the effective change means to change in such a way that in the present as well as in future the firm can gain maximum potential and maximum output without facing any kind of difficulty or problems. Effective change actually means to have some proper guidelines, to have some proper methods and techniques and also to have some proper planning in order to have some proper and well oriented outcome or results. Some particular models are required when any business or any firm or any organization is trying to change itself into a real management one. In this organization which is the medicine one and which is the family based business, some appropriate as well as some fixed rules and models are needed in order to change the structure of an organization into the best one. Hard elements as well as the soft elements are required for this firm because this is the family based firm and is now trying to change itself into a real management one. Following is the description of the soft as well as the hard elements with the help of which you can imagine that how this firm will actually change itself by following the below mentioned elements. (Mullins, no pg, 2007) FIG 1 http://buckleybrinkman.com/Images/Hard_and_Soft_Elements.gif These above mentioned hard and soft elements ad very much important and are necessary for every single firm which is trying to change itself from a small firm to a real management one, same is the situation with this firm which is mentioned in this paper. these elements basically tells us that how a family based business can be converted into a real management one. As mentioned in this paper, this is a family based medicine related business and is being changed or converted into a real management one. Medicine based business if want to convert or change into a real management and into a big pharmaceutical firm, then it should follow some rules and procedures. (Mullins, no pg, 2007) FIG 2 APPROPRIATE MODELS FOR CHANGE http://taugher.com/images/chart-organizational-change.gif This above mentioned is one of an appropriate model which we have selected for our firm in order to change itself from a family business to a real management one. Changing as mentioned above is a difficult task and it requires a lot of hard work. Proper steps and procedures are required with the help of which we can make sure that how and when the change has taken place, what time it will require, what steps should be taken into an account and what procedures should be follow in order to have a better and well oriented change for our organization or firm. (Mullins, no pg, 2007) Change implementation processes and outcomes One of the most important as well as the common sets of activities in the management is termed as planning. Planning is basically termed as setting the direction for something, for some system or for some set of rules and then guiding that particular system in order to follow that particular direction. There are different kinds of planning related steps and procedures in organizations. Planning actually requires a wide range of techniques and steps with the help of which an organization can know that what are the steps or measures which are required while changing the firm into the real management one. Without planning nothing is possible for the firm itself. Planning is therefore termed as an important step towards changing of an organization and it should be done in an appropriate manner and way. Following is mentioned the diagram of the planning procedure: There are four main areas which are termed as important areas which should never be neglected while changing an organization or the firm to the real management one. These areas are: 1. Change management 2. Relationships development 3. Partnering 4. Building high performing teams These four areas are very much important and they should be there when a firm is trying to change itself. (Mullins, no pg, 2007) Our firm which is the medicine firm and is the family based is as mentioned above is trying to change itself into a real management firm, therefore all these above mentioned areas should be followed in an appropriate and effective manner and better planning should be used in order to have better and effective outcomes. (Dunford & Akin, no pg, 2008) CONCLUSION Changing a structure of any firm or organization into the real management one is a tough job and if all the rules and regulations are followed properly and if better planning, performing and developing techniques is used then the firm should not to worry because if all these areas are covered in an appropriate manner then the firm will for sure results in an effective manner and will generate better and better outcomes. Better planning, resourcing, implementing and in the end better co ordination is required in this area. If these all areas are covered in an appropriate manner then the firm will for sure termed as the best one and will not face any kind of problem or difficulty in the future and will generate well oriented outcomes. (Todnem & Macleod, no pg, 2009) Better working of change agents and leaders is also required in this phenomenon and if the better work is done by the change agents then the outcome will also in the better way and in better directions. The firm can thus result in an appropriate manner and will generate well oriented outcomes. Leadership styles should be in an effective way and should be different from all the other styles so that a firm can work in an appropriate and well effective manner and better techniques can be used in order to generate better and better outcomes.
