The book talks about the family history of Iacocca from his childhood belonging to family of immigrants from Italy, his education during the World War II era in America at Lehigh university and Princeton university to rise to his outstanding position at the ford automobile company and Chrysler automobile company. Many readers have had mixed reactions and feelings while going through the autobiography in terms of adducing the real sense meant by the author but the bottom line is that a story of success(Iacocca & Novak, 1986).

Iacocca story is a rare story of success that can transform lives of many individuals mostly young generation who want to both make an impact in their careers as corporates or as the would-be-self-made entrepreneurs by employing good leadership skills, discipline and strategy while balancing work life with family to achieve success. . The autobiography has linked success with building happy beneficial relationships and luck. The first chapter shows a happy relationship between lee and the parents who were supportive from the very start even through his struggle with rheumatic fever.

The disease acted as a blessing in disguise because he would have gone as a soldier in World War II and never realized his dream as a top career personality and a business man. The first beneficial relationship he had was the one with the family; with his parents and with his current family. The parents provided him with social and financial support through his childhood education that saw him rise to employment status when he joined Ford automobile group for his first job. The relationship prepared him for success emotionally.

The second beneficial relationship that led to his success was the one he had with the founder’s son of the Ford motor company Henry Ford II that adopted family like lasting relationship, a very strategic move in itself because it saw him rise
