Decision Making The group uses the rationality model where it first identifies the problem thatneeds to be discussed and analyzed. The group members then are assigned different areas of the problem they are to solve or the answers. The best of the solutions are selected and implemented. There are two main decision making models: the rationality model and the normative model. The rationality model is used in strict business and economic models and in situations that demand more formality. The normative model on the other hand is applied in informal situations for example school group work or social groups (Tschappeler and Krogerus, 46).

Corporate organizations have organized their employees into groups which are supposed to carry out researches and find solutions to problems. Such groups require the application of rationality model. In social gatherings that are informal for example a group of friends or relatives seeking a solution to a social problem, they will apply the normative model which does not require any procedures and they use shortcuts to process information. Local businesses face competitions and they require finding ways to outdo their competitors while at the same time maintaining their customers.

They therefore require coming up with several solutions to their problems and seeking the best solution to implement. They therefore employ the rationality model. The rationality model being applied in both the corporate and local businesses is effective because it provides clear roadmap to follow and hence it is accountable and can be easily applied to other similar situations in future or implemented by other businesses. Normative model is effective in a social group which does not require formality or accountability and it is quicker and cheaper.
