Global Leadership and Team Development Answer The picture given in the assignment has two sides. In the upper half of the picture it is showing that leader is sitting idle and ordering his subordinates for works. This half of the picture is not at all suitable with leadership learning’s. Here the person is trying to tell with the picture that the leader is authoritative. The leader is not participative in nature. Followers are working but the leader is not leading from the front. It is very clear from the picture that leader is going after its mission but not offering any help to his followers. Leadership is all about leading from the front and support each and every individual or followers. The upper half of the picture is showing total opposite scenario. The picture is giving the idea of bossing attitude of the leader. Upper portion of the picture is not at all falling in line with leadership learning’s. The upper portion of the picture is showing how the leader is misusing his power of position. The picture is showing very little scope of motivations for followers from the side of their leader. The lower half of the picture is very much consistent with leadership learning’s. This portion of the picture is showing a suitable scenario for proper leadership. Here the leader is leading from the front. Here the leader is setting example for his followers. The Leader is motivating, inspiring and supporting his followers. In this half of the picture the leader is showing ways to his followers. The picture is totally falling in line with leadership learning’s. The picture is showing that there is a mission. The leader is inspiring his followers to achieve that mission. Here in this picture the leader is handling the whole situation and supporting his followers to reach towards common goal. The leader is not authoritative at all. Here in this portion of the picture the leader is sharing burden with his followers. The leader is not at all misusing his power of position. According to leadership learning’s leadership is all about leading from the front. This portion of the picture is showing the same thing. So this part of the given picture is very much suitable and consistent with leadership theories (Burns 137). Answer 2 Communication affects leader’s ability to lead very significantly. Communication is one of the most important factors for leaders to lead a bunch of followers. Proper communication is very important to channelize followers towards their goals. It is very important for each and every leader to communicate their ideas to followers. Communication is very important for leaders to circulate their vision across the followers. Communications of leaders give clear pictures to his followers. Proper communication increases leaders leading ability. Clear and simple communication from leaders will benefit everyone. Followers will get a clear idea about their tasks. Leaders can get proper commitment and dedication from their followers. Good communication is a very important ability of a good leader. It shows that the leader has very clear cut objective in his mind. Clear communication is very much important for each and every leader to avoid any confusion. Proper communication form leaders help followers to work more sincerely without any shadow of doubt. Mahatma Gandhi is a great example of good communicating leader. He asked for non violent movement against British imperialism in India. The communication was very much effective and successful. People of India followed that communication very effectively. Simple and effective communication is the channel through which good leaders communicate their dreams and ideas in front of followers. It also acts as a guiding star for followers. Communication is a two way process. With the help of this process leaders communicate their objectives and goals to followers and on the other hand the leaders can get information from the side of the followers as well. If proper communication from leaders is not present then it will create serious chaos. Situations of followers will be similar with radar less ships. It will create confusions on the minds of subordinates. Collective or organizational objectives will be very hazy (Western 111). Absence of proper communication from leaders will have negative impacts upon organizations or groups. Absence of communications can worsen relationship between leaders and followers. It has very negative effects on the whole group. Followers will be very confused about their roles and responsibilities. During the Second World War communications from Hitler towards German soldiers was not at all proper according to Russian environment. Result of that faulty communication was very counterproductive for Germany and Hitler. Answer 3 Creating a successful team is very important for achieving common objectives or goals. It is a very important but complex task. Elements like synergy, leadership, membership and motivation are very important factors for building a successful team. Synergy brings togetherness in a team. When every member of a team is working for each other and sharing successes and failures among them then it is a very good sign for potential successful team. It creates an oneness among all team members. Here team members are very supportive towards each other. Synergy generates a common emotional bonding among all members of the team. Synergy binds a group in a common fabric and helps to create a successful team. Leadership is also a key element for building a successful team. Leaders lead their followers from the front. Leaders communicate their visions and objectives to their followers. It is very important to have a good leader for developing a successful team. Leaders set examples for their followers. Leaders guide and inspire followers to achieve common goals. Good leaders are very supportive in nature. It is very important to create a successful team. Membership is also a very important element for developing a successful team (Sadler 78). Each and every individual are different. Every team member has their own strengths and weaknesses. Respecting each and every individual is very important for building a successful team. Every individual must be given same importance and focus. Participation of all team members is very important for creating a successful team (Northouse 123). Motivation is also a very integral element of a successful team. Motivated team is very important for achieving success. Highly motivated team members can overcome different complex situations very easily. Highly motivated people are inseparable for developing a successful team. In my previous organization I was a part of a very successful team. In that team all team members were very well connected with each other. A good sense of synergy was present in the whole team. All of our team members shared our successes and failures together. Our leader was very supportive and always guided us from the front. Each and every team member had equal opportunity to show case their ideas. We were highly motivated with our works. For consecutive three months our group was highest performing group in my previous organization. Answer 4 My strengths are my sincerity, commitment, dedication towards my work and my group. Leading from the front is a great strength for me. I am a good listener. Connecting abilities with followers is also a great strength of mine. I have visionary ability. Inspiring ability is a great strength for me. I can inspire my followers very well. I always believe in empowering my followers. It unleashes innovation and creativity among my followers. Communication is a great strength for me. I can communicate my ideas to followers very clearly and effectively. My problem solving ability is also a very important strength for me. I am very optimistic in nature. It is a very key trait for me. Mental toughness is also strength. I am very supportive and participative in nature. Convincing ability is a weakness for me. Sometimes I am very arrogant. It is a serious weakness for me. My lack emotional intelligence is also a weakness. I am too much impulsive. Sometimes I tend to forget minute details. I am little bit slow moving. I want to be an exemplary leader. I want to set trends in front of my followers. In simple I want to lead from the front. I want to prove my legitimacy as a leader without any force in front of my followers. I want to guide my followers in every situation. I will not misuse my position power. I want to be a transparent and ethical leader. Transparency and ethical practices will be my main focus in my leadership. I will not allow any unethical practices under my leadership. Unethical practices will be dealt with very strictly. I will try to be a transformational leader for my followers. I will motivate and encourage each and every individual to perform their works in creative manner. I will respect all individual ideas and advices and a reason for change in their lives.
