Management al Affiliation This paper aims to give a review on a credible article on management that reflects the current trends today. The article selected for analysis is from the Forbes magazine posted by Jerry Jao on 29th February 2014. The article talks about how a business can set up an office to gear it for better performance and hence better results. In the article, Jerry gives a peek into the life of a Chief Executive Officer and the roller coaster surrounding the whole start up process. Here in, the C.E.O gives hallmark moments of his experience s when starting his own businesses and the challenges that he faced until he got as far as he is currently. In his experiences, the CEO highlights the importance of management of the office space on performance of the business. He explains in detail that many organisations tend to focus on the ‘bigger picture’ and forget to establish a firm foundation in the vital basics which also has significant influence on the success or failure of a company. In the article referenced herein, the importance of a good working environment in terms of office space and setting has been greatly emphasized as it an important aspect in how the culture of the organisation will be shaped. The author further suggests that the office equipment and décor can have a great impact on the productivity and mood of an office while a well-designed floor plan can, to some good degree, facilitate the flow of energy and ideas within the office (Jerry, 2014). Statistics from the article show that majority of interviewees on survey said that the physical working environment would influence their decision whether to take up a job or leave the current workplace.
The reasons for selecting this article to reflect the trends of management today is due to both professional reasons and also because it is an area of interest. Interest in this article is drawn from the fact that it shows the importance of the basic aesthetics at the work place which have come to be ignored due to the changing and rather dynamic nature of the business environment. Most directors and managers have inclined towards spending more time focussing on enhancing revenues and cutting costs of production and forgetting the foundations of culture in the organisations that could actually make the company succeed more.
In my own opinion, the content of the article and its lay out was interesting and refreshingly different. The importance of the information in the article can also no be overemphasized. This is because the article analyses a key aspect in the performance of many businesses that is usually ignored or given little attention but yet would have major influence in the direction that the business takes. Proper organisation of the office place is highly likely to negatively impact the employees’ morale thus resulting to low productivity and low overall performance of the company. This article featured a key trend that has been seen to emerge in the recent past as more and more businesses are reclining back to the basics by directing more effort to motivate their employees and creating a good working environment to increase the productivity of their human capital.

...their article “Using Technology to Train Teachers”, Gaible and Burns (2005) discuss a variety of approaches to Teacher Professional Development. Site-based TPD practices are considered the most effective in comparison with standardized PD and self-directed PD. To illustrate, the authors assert that “site-based TPD, since it addresses locally based needs and reflects local conditions, should be the cornerstone of teacher development across the education system.” (Gaible & Burns, 2005, p.2). The benefits of employing the site-based practices are based on the facts that the latter unite people in an attempt to solve local issues and respond to local needs over a certain...
