A sustainability manager of Greentech Telephone Company has been selected for the interview process. The subject of this interview process is maintaining sustainability in the business process. What Is Your View on Business Sustainability? Leading global organizations try to achieve several competitive advantages through sustainable business practices. Focusing on sustainable business practices, organizations reduce legal challenges and threats. It is highly important for the organizations to maintain strong ethical codes at all business operation levels to maintain sustainability in the business process. What Are the Initiatives for Bringing Sustainability in Business? Business sustainability can be referred as an effective management of the triple bottom line. It is an important and valuable process that helps an organization to manage its social, environmental and financial risks, opportunities and obligations. The organization tries to maintain ethical standards in the business process. We recruit and select employees based on their skills, abilities and qualification background. The focus is on transparency in salary or the compensation distribution process. The organization engages itself to implement effective corporate governance in business practices. Apart from these, we focus on the green process of manufacturing and distribution of products. Significant water recycling and low carbon footprint are major examples of our sustainable business practices. How Green Are Your Products and Strategies? We generally focus on green procurement in the product and strategy development process. The intention of the organization has been towards reducing the level of pollution through our sustainable business operation strategies. Constant efforts are put in to reduce the consumption of natural resources. We recycle water and solid wastes to develop environment-friendly mobile chips. Several organizations within the telephone industry use fossil fuel as an energy resource in the business operation. Burning of fossil fuel causes high carbon emissions. Therefore, our organization uses substitutes of fossil fuels as energy resources to minimize the level of carbon emission in business process development. The green manufacturing and logistics process will help us to achieve a potential competitive edge. Where Does Your Organization Stand Relative to the Competitors? I have already stated that the global business environment has become highly competitive. Several organizations are developing new business strategies and processes to achieve potential competitive advantages. Bringing sustainability in the business process may help us to generate significant business revenues comparing to other competitors. In addition, customers across the globe tend to consume energy-efficient and green products. These products will reduce the environment and health threat. We are planning to create a benchmark within the industry by the implementation of a green business process and use of advanced technology. Moreover, growing trends towards corporate reporting may help us to achieve sustainable competitive advantages. How Do You Become a Green Organization? An effective understanding of the market demand and customer’s needs helps us to become a green organization. It is quite important to follow the sustainable business practices as the authorities are restricting unethical business practices due to several unfavorable external environmental outcomes. It can be said that sustainable business practices have several positive consequences. They strengthen stakeholder and supplier relationships. Moreover, the organization can gain a solid reputation among the customers. How Educated and Engaged Are Your Employees? Transparency in the recruitment and selection process is the focus of the organization. Moreover, we educate the employees on our organizational values and mission during the induction process. We provide an effective training and development program to every old and new employee. An appropriate working environment is a major consequence of effective management practices. We always motivate our employees to follow accurate ethical codes so as to meet the sustainability levels. Moreover, we have implemented workplace diversity to motivate the employees and provide collaborative working performance. Research is in progress to engage our skilled and experienced employees in the decision making process to avail a more effective sustainable business strategy. Who Are the Stakeholders and What Are Their Views on Business Performance? The employees, customers, shareholders, and the executives are our key stakeholders. We always try to satisfy the needs of our stakeholders. First of all, we provide green products and strategies to our customers to maintain an effective client base. We give a greater value to the efforts of our employees. It is their hard work towards a sustainable business performance that increased the productivity level of the organization. We provide accurate financial information of our organization. Effective corporate governance helps our shareholders to invest in our organization. The leaders and management continuously focus on the ethical decision making process. It helps us to attract our key stakeholders. What are the key sustainability metrics of your organization? Several organizations believe in several sustainability metrics. Our organization tries to focus on two types of metrics in order to measure the sustainability of our organization. First of all, we try to manage and control energy spending and consumption aspect. We measure energy consumption level to develop future sustainability strategy. On the other hand, we are focusing on the latest sustainability metrics i.e. return on investment. It helps us to measure how much we have saved through the sustainability investment process. How Do You Develop Improvements Goals and Objectives in This Area? We always conduct market research every six months to gain accurate knowledge about the market demand and customers’ needs. Moreover, this survey work helps us to understand several external threats such as market competition and legal or political challenges. We integrate our production manager to our strategic management team to develop and improve sustainable business goals and objectives. How Will You Offer Greener Goods and Services? Innovation is a positive result of experiments and processes. Innovation can be nurtured or encouraged without a guarantee of success. It is quite important to introduce green products and services in order to survive in this competitive business environment. The organization is on the verge of developing a strong and skilled research and development team to provide effective green and sustainable telecommunication products and services to our potential target customers. Moreover, improvement of our recycling process, which will reduce the consumption level of resources and raw materials, is on course.
