Research Question What Impact would employee involvement do in the hiring and promotion process in public Agencies? Most public agency managers have the tendency of following orders hiring and promoting employees according to elected officials’ request. Most likely, employees hired in the street have a minimal chance of getting promoted and those coming from the outside trying to be hired have a world of difficulties because, from experience, those appointed by electoral officials are automatically selected and those hired as recommended by elected officials are guaranteed promotion even within their probation period. Research Methodology Qualitative Research Survey Method I think working in the public agency field for as long as I can remember, I definitely grasp enough evidences to support the idea that Employee involvement is a great way to eliminate the frustration of senior employees in the promotion process and also participating in the hiring by knowing who are being hired as their co-workers. What methodology would you propose to test your research question and why this is the best one? C. Theoretical Foundation and/or Conceptual Framework Survey of at least a 100 employee in agencies such as Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Services, and USCIS A survey will be build and group meetings will be done with employees if each organization and the end result should determine whether this method of hiring and promoting employees should apply List 1- to 2-potential theoretical foundations and/or conceptual frameworks that may guide your study. Gaps The sampling procedure may affect the validity of results especially if the right respondents are not chosen. Much of the need to avoid all forms of internal invalidity resulting from the sample size can be addressed with the inclusion and exclusion mechanism that is employed. In the present situation, it is advised that a purposive sampling procedure be used to select respondents with the right information on the research topic ( Suri, 2011). Identify at least 1 potential gap E. Assumptions, Limitations, and Delimitations It is assumed that all employees have adequate knowledge and skill to be independent in their operations. A major limitation to the study shall be the degree of preparedness of leaders of various institutions to allow their leadership styles to be changed towards the types that allow for employee involvement. The study shall be carried out within the confined scope of hiring and promotion alone and not other aspects of organizational function For employee involvement to be upheld, employees must exhibit high sense of independence in the delivery of their work (Community Health Profiles, 2006). It is against this backdrop that it is assumed that all employees have needed competence. For companies practicing autocratic leadership, chance are that they will not be willing to allow employee involvement and so data collected will be affected in such settings. Identify at least 1 assumption, limitation, and delimitation. F. Controlling and Managing Bias Even though purposive sampling is recommended because of the nature of data to be collected, bias in data collection can still be controlled if a strategy is devised to make all forms of data to be collected hidden from respondents. This way, there shall not be pre-conceived responses coming from respondents. When respondents have knowledge of the type of data to be collected, chance are that they will fake out on their responses in order to please the researcher and this would constitute an act of bias in the data collection process ( Saunders, M et al, 2007). Identify one strategy for controlling and managing bias in your research. G. Summary of the Literature/Logical Fallacies Hasty generalization is one form of logical fallacy that commonly confronts researchers in undertaking research works of this type. The strategy to guard against this form of logical fallacy is to ensure that arguments put forth in literature are debated and reviewed with their contextual meanings rather than applied meanings. Once forth by authors are taken out of their contextual meanings and given applicable meanings, chances are that the reviewer will generalize the implication of the text and cause a logical fallacy of hasty generalization. Attach a brief outline that describes the flow of your intended literature review. Describe one logical fallacy and how you will guard against this in your own writing. H. Synthesis of the Literature The issue of employee involvement has been approached through three different perspectives by different writers whereas the Gotham Hospital Center (2011) argues that employee involvement should not be seen as an end in its self in suggesting that employees will gain hands-on experience at work, Burke (2006), also holds the believe that it is only through employee involvement that practical knowledge and skill are acquired and so employee involvement could be seen as an end and should be applied at all times and under every situation. On his part, Perry (2008), debates that the most suitable leadership style that can accommodate employee involvement is the democratic leadership and that employees should be involved as and when their levels of competent permits them to. The question is therefore asked that “does it mean that leaders practicing different forms of leadership need to involve employees differently and in a manner that suits their style of leadership?” Write 1 paragraph that provides a synthesis of at least 3 articles that approach your topic from different perspectives. I. Implications for Future Research The act of conducting research has always been a continuous process. Particularly for the research methodology selected, future research is going to be implicated in trying what the effect of organizational outcomes would be if other research methods such as case study and action research are used. I have to personally state at the recommendations for further research that future researchers must consider other forms of research methodology. What implications will your study have on future research? J. Contributions to Discipline and to Social Change It is said that if you do not know where you are, you cannot determine where you are going. Today, much of the global successes of companies and other organizations have been attributed to the quality and competence of their human resource and for that matter human capital. But the starting point to getting a well resourced human capital is to undertake effective recruitment. With the current study, the implication on future research and practical application is that models for employee hiring will be established for both further research and organizational application. Other forms of tangible social changes that are expected include the fact that the experiences and skills of employees to be involved in hiring processes of their various organizations will be enhanced and developed. For this implication to be achieved, researcher must ensure that all research questions are duly answered and that each specific objective set on the research is achieved. What contributions will your research make to the discipline and society? Note: Social change implications are expressed in terms of tangible improvements to individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, or societies.
