1. What are the main ideas reflected in the article? Multicultural organizations are defined as the organizations with the diversity of culture, language, and knowledge. In the multicultural organization, the language barrier is actually one of the leading concerns which directly affect the performance of the entire organization. However, Lauring and Selmer (2011) concluded that nurturing a multicultural organization may be healthy as long as they have a shared language or a lingua franca. Without it, don’t talk the same language, communication is limited.

When communication is limited, relationships don’t develop. When relationships are not developed, people are less likely share what they know. Even when using a common language for all organizations such as English, there is a significant difference between English in daily communication and English in management communication. The diversity of language causes poor performance due to limited capacity to understand, explain or express in non-native language. 2. How does the article contribute to the topic under discussion?

The current cultural diversity that prevails is the only one our generation has ever known. Its benefits and nuisance have been so ingrained in the daily discourse that it hardly matters to talk about the culture diversity and language anymore and perhaps, that is the primary struggle of writing about subjects that are beyond familiar to a generation trained to be critical. Szucs & Luebking (2000) illustrated that the U.S. population with a different ethnicity increased 6950% from 4 million to 282 million between 1970 and 2000.

The main points raised were beyond obvious. Cultural diversity is healthy only when people understand each other. 3. What are the key points for managers to bear in mind? In effect, what is the current state of thought concerning the topic area? Common language: The variety of culture will benefit when knowledge is shared. The common language is necessary. Restriction of the use of common language is limited understanding of the communication is not the native language.Communication: Communication frequency increases the sharing of knowledge, and reduces the gap of language barriers.

Members can be easily to synthesize and compare the knowledge they receive a reply or feedback through direct communication. What managers would less likely notice is the ability of employees, with different cultural backgrounds, to form a sub culture or an entirely new one made up of the best compromise their different beliefs and principles would allow them. Often, it is in this fusion that the greatest strength of team may be found.4. How could this research be improved or changed? Do you agree with the findings?

This study is considered to be the first one to express positive relationship between the consistent use of English as a shared language with the performance of knowledge sharing in a multicultural organization. English in general and English in management communication is always different. English in daily communication brings is usually simple and popular. English in management communication requires more professional. The study points out that the important issues in a multicultural organization: the diversity of language leads to the performance of sharing information and knowledge.

Limitations and the weaknesses of this experiment is described in the sample for survey. The survey was conducted in Denmark within three universities. The interviewees work at the university. Knowledge and ability of interviewees will be higher than others. The accuracy of the study is reduced. To obtain the effect are more general, researchers need to expand the scope and subjects of survey. The result can be easily to convince the reader.ReferencesLauring, J. & Selmer, J. (2001).
