What shall I Render unto God (Psalm 116) The Reason behind the writing the Psalm The of the psalmist who wrote psalm 116 is not mentioned in the bible but there are many reasons why he wrote this psalm. It is clear from the writing that God saved the writer from death, which explains why he is, so much thankful to Him (Psalm 116:1). It can be interpreted from the reading that the psalmist is in pain and may be that pain is coming from his enemies (Psalm 116:4). When the psalmist prayed to the God, He saved him from the suffering of his enemies (Psalm 116:8).

There are several physical and spiritual benefits that God bestows on us every day.

Physical Needs: God has bestowed numerous blessing on us, even after all the disobedience and sin we do. Our physical needs that are fulfilled by God on the daily basis include the need for food, safety and other physiological needs. Spiritual needs: He sent no one but His only son for our salvation. It is clear that we cannot respond back to the Lord, our God, on how much we try but still there are certain things that we can do to make him happy. Responding back to God through our love: We may respond back to God for all His blessing by loving him.

This can only be done if we follow the commandments that were sent to us through Moses and the teaching of Jesus (John 14:23).Responding back through praise: Lord our God likes it when we praise him through different hymns and other means. We can show Him our loyalty by praising Him and praying to no one but Him. In psalm 116, the psalmist promise to offer a cup of wine to the Lord as a gesture of gratitude (Psalm 116:8). Responding back through worship: We have been instructed in the Bible that we must obey the day of the Sabbath.

The Lord, our God, listens to the worships and bestows upon us His blessings in return (Psalm 68:4-5).Responding back through Fear: What pleases God is how we fear Him. It is the fear and the love of God that drives a true Christian to follow the commandments and word of the Lord (Deuteronomy 5:29). Responding back through Body: We have been created to serve a purpose on earth. Serving the Lord by serving His creations and worshipping Him is how we can respond to His blessings through our bodies.

In return of our sacrifice God blesses us with a long and healthy life (Proverb 3:8). Responding back through Gratitude: We may thank God through several mean; however one of the means that pleases God the most is when we help other human beings (Hebrew 12:28). Responding back through our payment of vows: When we make a vow with the Lord, He wants us to repay it at any cost (Ecclesiastes 5:4).
