BP was responsible for this spill and adverse effects were witnessed on the US economy and the company’s reputation. This tarnished the reputation of the company and BP was forced to take corrective actions which lead to new management guidelines. After the case, BP was forced to improve its operational efficiency so that such issues do not happen again.

It can also try to hire a team for experts to investigate the issue to inform people that all the possible actions have been taken to avoid such issues in the future. BP is an entity and has legal existence as a person and should therefore abide by all the laws and regulations. In case laws and regulations are not followed, the company can be fined and punished. After the spill, the company was sued for fines and all the damages that occurred following the spill. BP should make sure that they follow all the court orders regarding fines in order to make sure that the company is not violating any law and hence its reputation will not be tarnished further.

(Korsec, 2010)Ethical responsibility is always taking the right course of action. It is not about selecting the most profitable action, but taking a course of action that is going to benefit the society. For example, BP should use the best possible ships and cargos. This may be expensive, but it will avoid future oil spills and will benefit the society.References:Korsec, K. (2010). BP Gulf Oil Spill: The Worst-Case Scenario Looms for the Company and the Region.
