Why have you chosen to base your research on this company/facility/organisation/etc? The major objective of the proposed research is to highlight the consequences of staff training programmes in an organisation. The study will focus on staff training programmes that are implemented by McDonald’s in its global business operations. An effective staff training program can be beneficial for McDonald’s in order to avoid the increasing risks and threats that can arise in various phases within the marketplace. Moreover, it can also be considered as one of the major strategic tools for the organisation in order to achieve competitive advantage in global marketplace (Pranicevic & et. al., 2011). ). From the perspective of McDonald’s, the food chain retail organisation significantly implements effective training and learning programs for the employees in various regions of socially, culturally as well as linguistically diversified markets. Therefore, the organisation can be recognised as one of the major fast-food chain retailers across the various regions of the world. 2. Why are you researching this particular topic? Staff training is one of the essential steps for an organisation in order to enhance the experiences of the prospective as well as new customers. The process of employing training programs for the workers can be effective for the organisation in terms of retaining existing customers as well as attracting new customer segments for the organisation. In accordance with the rapid development of the customers’ desires as well as with the increasing number of competitors in the hospitality and food chain industry, employee training and development programs have become an essential step for the modern organisations in order to maintain their sustainability. In the present day context, organisations frequently employ training programs for the employees in order to educate them regarding effective steps that can be followed by them while dealing with the consumers. Therefore, an assessment of the core concepts that are utilised by a globally leading company, McDonald’s in this context can facilitate to recognise the value of staff training in the organisational context in both short and long run (Pranicevic & et. al., 2011). 3. What are your main literature sources and how have you located and accessed these? In the context of this proposed research, the study would be conducted through assessing various numbers of journals and books that are written by different authors. Moreover, in order to increase the effectiveness and suitability of this research, the proposed study would be evaluated through collecting information from primary sources including company annual reports, by conducting interviews and through questionnaire survey with the consumers and employees of McDonald’s. 4. What is the overall aim of your proposal and why? Identifying and highlighting the major effects of staff training in McDonald’s in order to develop the experiences of the global customers of the company’s fast-food retail chain segment is the major objective of this research. Moreover, recognizing various types of innovative and exceptional business strategies that are executed by McDonald’s in its effective staff training initiatives is also a major aim of the proposed research. The recognised aims of the study would enable to comprehend the decisive factors that have enabled McDonald’s to attain success as a globally recognised organisation. 5. What are the research questions you are setting out to answer? The research questions of this study have been developed in order to significantly identify the relationship in between the customer experiences and employee performances of McDonald's in its global business operations. The research would be conducted on the basis of certain questions that comprise: a. Justifying the relationship between workforce performance and consumer experience in the global food-chain retail industry b. Finding major objectives and strategies of McDonald’s regarding its staff training initiatives. c. Recognizing how staff training plays a decisive role towards effective consumer experiences in McDonald’s 6. What methodologies are you using to conduct your research and why? The qualitative approach of research methodology will be employed through reviewing books and journals of various scholars. The qualitative research approach would enable to represent appropriate findings and results and it would also help to identify the ultimate outcome of the overall research work. The research study will be derived from interpretivist philosophy which provides substantial benefits to the researchers in order to examine data and information from various sources (Andrade, 2009). 7. Who are your research sample and how will you gain access? In order to appropriately identify the relationship between consumers’ experiences and employees’ performances of McDonald’s, the research work would be conducted through reviewing various journals, articles and books of different authors. Moreover, the organisational annual reports would be assessed as well as interviews with the employees and consumers would done in order to identify the major objectives and strategies that are employed by McDonald’s in its staff training programs. Furthermore, the research also involves questionnaire survey method both for the staff and customers of the organisation. The questionnaire process of the research would include both open ended and closed ended questions and would be distributed to 50 employees and 50 randomly selected consumers of McDonald’s. The findings from the research would enable to assess the experiences of the customers due to the effects of staff training initiatives. 8. Are there any ethical or special issues to be considered? The proposed research would highly maintain ethical standards in terms of collecting information or data from different sources. Participant members (i.e. employees and consumers of McDonald’s) would be informed regarding the nature and objective of the research and their participation would be voluntarily. Furthermore, the research work would also ensure that the information and data of the organisation will be treated as confidential and will not be used for any other intentions. Moreover, the research questions would also be prepared keeping in view that they do not cause any harm to sentiments of the participants 9. What are you doing to ensure the validity of your research? In order to ensure the validity of the research, an effective observation and assessment will be made regarding the information and data that would be collected from different sources. The selected information will be critically examined in order to maintain the level of relevancy and authenticity of the proposed research work. 10. What do they anticipate will be gained through your research? The organisation i.e. McDonald’s can anticipate to gain a collection of valuable information through the research. This is because the research intends to identify the consumer needs and desires from the provided services of McDonald’s and the extent to which it has been met by the company through its efficient staff training programs. Moreover, the organisation can also be benefited from the research as they would be able recognise the positive aspects of the provided staff training programs that are liked by the consumers. Moreover, certain deficiencies in their provided staff training programs can also be ascertained by McDonald’s which would enable it to improve upon them to enhance its sustainability.
