?Introduction This paper is about Coors Brewery and job related issues at Coors Brewery. It encompasses job opportunities and job recruitment strategies at Coors Brewery and much more. Coors Brewery was established in 1880 by Adolph Coors, a Prussian-born immigrant who came to the United States in 1868. Having trained as an apprentice in a Prussian brewery, 22-year-old Adolph Coors became a foreman at the Stenger Brewery in Naperville, Illinois, in late 1869. By 1872, Coors owned his own bottling company in Denver, Colorado. With his knowledge of brewing beer and the financial assistance of Joseph Schueler, Coors established his own brewery in Golden, Colorado. His product was an immediate success. In 1880, Adolph Coors bought out Joseph Schueler and established a tradition of family ownership that was maintained for almost a century (Dartmouth, 2001). Coors Brewery has been in partnership with many other breweries; its alliances are present in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America etc. Recruitment Strategies Used by Coors Brewery Coors Brewing Company recognizes its employees and their efforts and gives credit of its success to its employees. While Tim Keefe was at Coors Brewing Company, his recruitment strategies helped the company become recognized for its innovation and employment brand. (Employer Brands, 2011) In 1975, a lawsuit against Coors Brewery was filed, according to which Coors Brewery used “methods of recruitment which served to perpetuate the company's nonminority male workforce.” Therefore, in 1997, Coors brewery made an agreement with EEOC in which it vowed that it will never be discriminating in hiring employees from then on. (Dartmouth, 2001). Miller Coors website states that, “We share a strong commitment to responsibly brew, bottle and market a portfolio of great beers that can satisfy all beer drinkers.” While Tom Long, the Chief Executive Officer of Miller Coors states that,” Miller Coors people are genuinely passionate about the beer business. They love what they do.” So, Coors Brewery keeps in mind that there is no racism involved when it comes to recruiting employees. Moreover, there should be no gender discrimination. Being in beer business makes Coors Brewery liable to be careful towards hiring young people. They should keep in mind that they are not younger than 21 years of age. Moreover, they should hire people who would not get affected by beer and are in no way alcoholics etc. Plus, they should keep a check on the employees they are hiring so that in the future the employees don’t do stuff that was not diagnosed earlier. Job Opportunities Classification In Coors Brewery there are a lot of job opportunities for all kinds of people and for both genders. There are jobs in related to brewing, then there are jobs related to administration and management. Being a top notch firm, Coors brewery hires employees for marketing, corporate communications, Corporate Social Responsibility etc. There are a lot of job opportunities and a lot of job positions that a company has to offer. This shows that Coors Brewery is a very extensive organization. It sponsors in many sports events for its promotion. It also spends a lot in order to be a socially responsive citizen. Optimal Mix of Home and Host Country Employees Coors Brewery supports diversity; they have international projects going on with not only developed countries but developing countries as well. They have projects with African American companies as well as Hispanic companies. This shows that they value diversity. They prepare their employees such that they are able to work with all types and kinds of people in a congenial manner and without bringing bad name to the organization. They make sure that they have done proper homework on the host country and that they abide by their laws and also that they mold themselves as per the culture of the country that they are working in. They want to keep congenial relationship with their host country. They mould their own rules and regulatiosn such that the employees of the host and home country do not have a problem in working and adapting with the organization and feel that the organsiation is their own. They would recruit the employees without any biasness and would give the host country’s applicants an equal chance to be a part of the organization. If necessary, they would train the employees of the host country so that they are able to learn to work in the orgnaisation. Plus, they will teach the home country’s employees about the culture and language of the hsot country so that thye are able to work with employees of the host country. Benefits Coors brewery values its employees and gives them many benefits. Some of them are discussed here in this paper. They have an annual employee engagement survey which shows how many employees want to work for them for the next year or so. It shows how satisfied employees are and also how much effort they put in the organization. They value diversity which is why they hire employees from all races and genders. They do not discriminate when they are hiring. Coors Brewery has safety policies for its employees that win the hearts of employees, their loyalty and devotion. It also shows how much Coors gives back to its employees and society. Then there is Miller Coors University which gives employees a chance to learn online and in classroom as well. This helps employees to become stronger and even more professional. They should have employee awards. Like, employee of the month or employee of the year award. They should also give rewards, perquisites, benefits and bonuses to the employees. Employees shpuld be able to voice their opinion about matters and their complains and suggestions should be taken into account and should be discussed. Moreover, they should be compensated in case of loss. They should be awarded with a raise in income when they do well so that they can improve their living standards. There should be family gatherings as well. Most of all, they should be ensured that they will be kept safe. Plus, in case of an accident they should be taken to hospital on the company’s expense. This gives employees satisfaction that their company cares for them. Conclusion This means that Coors Brewery not only has to work hard for the environment or the society, but its employees as well. It needs to ensure the employees that there will be no discrimination and that proper care will be taken for their safety. Plus, is they do well they should be rewarded and in case of their loss they should be compensated. By valuing them, Coors Brewery can take itself to higher heights.
