The paper "Declining Global Cities" is an outstanding example of a macro & microeconomics thesis. Globalization has brought many revolutionary changes in this world. It helped some countries to develop much more rapidly than in other countries. Moreover, it helped the shift of global wealth from less heavily populated areas to more heavily populated areas. Above all, some of the most rapidly growing cities in the past are currently declining rapidly because of globalization. Even though declining of cities is taking place across the world, America seems to be the most affected country in this regard.

Many of the richest cities in America in the past are currently struggling for survival. People in such cities are currently shifting their shelter to other cities. As a result of population size and economic growth in such cities have declined considerably over the last few decades. Detroit is one American city in which declining economic growth and population size are significant. This city has already filed a bankruptcy suit. It was once known as the paradise for automakers. However, the emergence of China and India as the cheapest manpower oriented countries resulted in forcing automakers in America to offshore their business from America to other India and China.

This project is intended to investigate the reasons for the declining of some global cities in general and the declining of Detroit city in particular. Only secondary research methods are used for this project. “Globalization is a process through which events, decisions and activities in one part of the world can come to have a significant consequence for individuals and communities in quite distant parts of the globe” (Reich, 1998, p.5). Revolutionary political, economic, social and cultural changes were brought to this world because of globalization.

Many of the underdeveloped countries are developing rapidly whereas many of the developed countries are currently struggling to maintain economic development because of globalization. For example, India and China are the most rapidly emerging economies in the world now whereas America and Britain are struggling to maintain economic growth in their countries.
