Patriarchy social system favor male and they play major roles, males hold key power; they predominate in functions of political leadership, control property, social privilege, and moral authority. More often and not in patriarch, the institutions are of male domination and involve female subordination. Several, patriarchal societies are also patrilineal, meaning that titles and are inherited by the male lineage. Film Camila Directed by the Argentine Maria Luisa Bemberg and the novel The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cuba is classic work that gives a detailed critique of nineteenth-century society and patriarchal settings. Despite the film and the novel’s differences in the delivery of their message on the theme of patriarchal, they have convergent views. The film and novel best help explain the theme and audience of the works are presented with the social system the gendered rewards of positions differentiate men from women. Various women have to fight for their place in society and force their ideologies.

Film Camila Directed by the Argentine Maria Luisa Bemberg presents Camila, transgressed aristocratic lady who proudly defied the values of the Church, society, and Family in the nineteenth century. She was executed beside her partner, the priest Ladislau Gutiérrez. Later her execution by a tyrant her life and death signifies a myth of repression and rebellion in Argentina. The film portrays a patriarchal social system for instance, despite a request from the rest of the family and Ignacio; he writes to the rules and demands the death execution of his daughter. With both his political allies and demanding blood, and his exiled enemies using the scandal to radicle his regime, Rosas then delivers an executive order for both Fr. Ladislao and Camila to be shot without even trying. It portrays the societal challenges that women go through in a male-dominated society.

Like the film, the novel The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cuba is narrated by the deceased protagonist Brás Cubas, who conveys his personal life story from beyond the grave, highlighting his mistakes and failed romances. The novel also retaliates on the theme when the narrator tells a married woman Virgilia to run away with him. Despite the woman's resilience, he insists, and when a woman fails he considers this a failure on his part. He plants a seed of hate in her that the husband doesn’t love her as he does but to no vain. It portrays a woman in the play as a sex tool and who society expects to act as the man dictates. It is an example of a Patriarchy social system that favors males. Males tend to exert superior authority over female sexuality, reproductive roles likewise.

Finally, it is worth highlighting that the two works present a clear understanding of what happened in the 19th century and still happens in some contemporary societies.
