The provided timings failed totally because the F-15s sent to intercept the airliner were 71 miles away when the South Tower was hit, which was way below their optimum performance speed (Griffin 171). The Commission said the delay was due to lack of information on the direction on where to send the alert pilots and the lack of a target. However, according to the report, FAA knew of Flight 175 only after the Pentagon and the South Tower were hit. This contradicts earlier reports by the Toronto Star and NORAD, which claim that the Boston Center had informed NEADS of a hijacked plane heading towards New York, which turned out to be Flight 11 (Griffin 176).

The chapter also accuses the commission of replacing lies with further lies, without an explanation of their previous accounts of the attacks. The chapter suggests that all people in a position to know the truth dispute the commission’s report that the US military did not know of Flight 175’s hijacking before it hit the South Tower (Griffin 188).
