Two short essaysSageman bookNot a lot is understood about the recruitment of the terror organizations and also their retention. Sageman gathers information on the motivating factor with some particular interest on the salafi jihad movement (Sagemen, 43). Understanding terror networks is a good perspective on the global jihad movement.Motivation to join the militant groups needed not come from poverty or even total religious devotion, but it was majorly fueled by the desire to escape alienation.

The al Qaeda led a social network that mobilized the people to start the terrorism. This was majorly the effects of the internet (Sagemen, 43). These networks then became a formal organization. Muslims teamed up to fight the communist invader and developed a cohesive bond. Freedom fighters volunteered to contribute to the Muslim cause. The volunteers were mainly motivated by piggybacking.Religious predispositions as well as ideological appeal are commonly viewed as factors that necessitated the decision making in becoming a freedom fighter.

He however attributes this to social bonds since these people have to have trust for one another (Sagemen, 43).Zakaria’s book In his book zakaria is in pursuit of the reasons as to what makes rich nations rise in to great power, and how these rich nations extend their influence far and wide (Zakaria, 87). He used Canada and Iceland, and he argues that the president and his administrators were responsible for the spread of the national spread of their political influence abroad after they had seen their nations grow relatively in economy.

In his future freedom book, he argues that democratic in the western world is what we call liberal democracy which is made up of liberal constitutionalism and also participatory politics. In Western Europe, he pointed out that protection of liberty and the rule of law preceded the popular elections (Zakaria, 87). He further argues that a country that adopts elections without considering liberty protection is at a risk of illiberal democracy.Work citedMarc sageman. Understanding terror networks.
