Reducing Juvenile Delinquency Reducing Juvenile Delinquency It is not surprising to see youths struggling to lead a positive life. Evidently, struggle in the modern society does not only apply to the youths, but also to adults. Some youths find it difficult to address the challenges that they have because of various constraints that they are facing. In the end, some end up committing crimes that they could easy avoid. However, the society can come in and help the youths. Some problems that youths face in the society have solutions.

The society has the ability to reduce factors or conditions that promote juvenile delinquency. Several factors contribute towards juvenile delinquency. Community or family is an important factor that influences human behavior. People live in a society as friends, children, and enemies or as parents. The contribution of a parent in the family would influence the way a child would behave. Psychosocial theories argue that human behavior depends on cognitive (intrinsic factors) and social factors (Siegel & Welch, 2011).

Social factors depend on the environment where a person lives. Since learning is a process, which occurs continuously, it probable that a youth would learn behavior from what he or she observes in the society. Parents are able to influence the behavior of the youths because youths are directly answerable to them. Parents are able to take account of what his or her child practices in the society. Social theorists have observed the parental role in delinquent behavior, and have argued that parents who fail to monitor their children’s conducts often promote delinquent behavior (Siegel & Welch, 2011).

A family where a person belongs shapes the character of that person. Evidently, parents can influence delinquent behaviors such as use of drugs, socialization, as well as setting good examples to their children. Arguably, a problem parent who does not set good examples in the society cannot be able to control the behavior of his or her child. Social reports have indicated that adolescents who develop interest in taking hard drugs learn the syndrome from their parents. Saving the youths from delinquent behaviors is a joint effort that requires goodwill of the society as well as the parents.

Many organizations in the society have failed to address the root causes of delinquent behavior because they have not been able to involve the parents in addressing problems facing the youths. These organizations should work with parents when addressing factors that promote Juvenile delinquency in the society. The government and other stakeholders fighting for social rights should device policies, which aim at protecting children from abuse or exposure to factors, which promote delinquent behavior (Siegel & Welch, 2011).

Adolescent stage is challenging because adolescent tries to fight between reality and confusion. Counseling sessions introduced in schools play a great role in influencing behavior of adolescent. Teachers act as partner to the society because they impart social skills and academic knowledge to a child. The crucial roles that they do to the society are important in influencing delinquent behavior. In conclusion, juvenile delinquency is an issue, which influences social fabric. Players such as parents, teachers, and social organizations have the strength to influence juvenile delinquency.

Parents are able to guide the conduct of their children because they belong to the same family. Notably, many children do copy what they observe in the society.
