Task: Safe Area Gorazde Theme of Violence Analysis Introduction From Joe Sacco’s book ‘Safe Area Gorazede’, one major theme thatwe can see through his works is violence. Violence is displayed throughout the events described in the book as well as in the visual elements. In regards to Versasci (2007), violence was experienced in Bosnia among people who had lived together as brothers and sisters (p116). One would presumably raise the question of how minor political tension can cause this kind of violence that flooded the vicinity with the blood of women, youth, children and men.

As opposed to other journalists, Sacco uses graphics to show such a violent ironic transition and how human ethics metamorphosed. This is an allusion to America, which is a racially and ethnically diverse society (Horwel 1). Sacco shows how a small political problem can bring permanent change to America through violence since racism still rules the minds of many Americans. The image, which shows Chetnik with blood all over his face, and looks at Racim as he crosses a pond of blood but has a smile on his face(115).

We can’t tell what was on the mind of the Chetnik when he saw the blood of the person he was killing ooze out and splash into his face (Sacco 198).
