Published in the year 1776, the book talks about market policies with respect to global economies around the world and has thus been able to set a bench mark for leading policy makers and economists all around the world, providing them with an insight into how economies function. The book helps to understand the Industrial Revolution that took place and how subsequently economies all over the world were able to establish their supremacy in the market forces and prove beneficial to societies and people around them. The book has been divided into several parts talking about the various aspects of an economy. The division of labour, prices of commodities as well as factors like profits, rents, interests and wages form the first segment where Smith has argumentatively discussed how the rules of demand and supply apply to these situations. By taking stark examples of poverty and rising prices of essential commodities, the role of big industries and small players like farmers, he has explained the consequences that the government has to undergo when it provides subsidies in order to take care of the more deprived sections of society. The next segment comprises of a discussion on the basis of accumulated wealth and stock within the economy, and the one after talks about progress in the form of proper usage of the available resources and opportunities. (Smith, Adam) Essay Two: ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ is a very renowned collection of stories and folk tales compiled during the Islamic Golden Age from all over the Middle East. The book has also gained recognition in English as ‘Arabian Nights’ and has been translated in a number of different languages all over the world. Most stories range from the Caliphate to the Persian periods and comprise of kings and queens living during the era, and the kind of lifestyle that they lived at the time. Most of the stories have a common factor as they have been framed on the basis of King Shahryr and Queen Scheherazade of Persia, as she recites her stories to him in order to postpone her execution that he was to carry out. She thus tells him stories every night for the next one thousand and one nights, trying to delay the process of her death. The entire book comprises of very rich poetry and prose with a vast amount of dramatic visualization. Most of the stories are based on fate and destiny because of the avid belief that most people in the Middle East had at the time in superstitions like these. The characters in each of the stories are very unique and come from different backgrounds, and almost every story has a certain moral as well. Some of the more well known works within this collection include stories like ‘Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves’, ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ and ‘Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp’. All these stories have an element of magic attached to them and are told to children all over the world even today. It focuses on the last few hours of the lives of Shakespeare’s characters, Antony and Cleopatra and has become a platform for debate among most critics and drama lovers all over the world today. Dryden has helped to put forth several moral, philosophical as well as ethical questions with respect to love and all its subsidiaries as an investigation to his audience. He questions the integrity of these emotions arising from person to person and how the same differs among individuals. A number of emotions have been thrown into light in the form of love as the characters give their lives up for the very feeling. Antony displays honour in the form of love for his country and gentry, as well as fidelity in his relationship. Personal and political love has also been depicted as Antony tries to choose between his family, Cleopatra and his love for the Roman Empire. The playwright has also tried to throw light upon the fact that the characters die for the love that they have built up within themselves. This ancient book contains information regarding places like Egypt, Germany, discovery of Newfoundland and Guiana, as well as other trips taken around the world as per the voyage of various travellers like Sir Francis Drake and W. Raleigh. The book provides for an interesting read as the authors have tried to collect and pass on information regarding the discovery of ancient places in the modern world; by this the authors mean that they have tried to newly find places that people had forgotten about, and have thus been able to provide an account of how beautiful and unturned the sands of time in each of these places has remained. Each voyage contains stories and tales of being able to interact with people who have not even dreamt of the world being bigger than their localities, and how they have been surviving in the unknown. These travellers have thus been able to open the eyes of people by helping them discover new places with the help of their writings; ancient places with a modern touch have been revisited and spoken about, opening doors to more and more people around the world, with an emphasis on ancient discoverers.
