The spider woman, the head of a human on the body of a gigantic tarantula, is what she is because she had disobeyed her parents one time too many. The villagers become more intrigued by this spider woman because she has a story behind her being. The old man, the angel, was only interesting to look at for a while due to being a physical oddity, a sideshow attraction that the villagers were not used to. But staring at someone or something for so long can quickly become boring and lose its charm.

The spider woman, on the other hand, had the ability to talk and explain her story. She was able to gain sympathy from the viewers. The spider woman, besides being a physical attraction, has a background, a past. The story of the old man must be assumed, but the spider woman lets people know from the beginning what she is all about.
