Download file to see previous pages En el poema de Octavo Paz el autor describe su relación con poesía, que no lo deja indiferente. El poeta intenta buscarse a si mismo en la poesía, pero acaba perdiéndose y aún menos consciente de su identidad creativa; “naufragado en sí” (4). Confundido, decide utilizar la poesía para escapar de si mismo, y evitar la variedad de respuestas, que no le llevaron a ninguna conclusión; al contrario, le dejaron “perdido en la espesura de reflejos” (9-10). Sin embargo, su camino creativo le devuelve al punto de partida; ni búsqueda de su identidad, ni huida de si mismo al mundo de poesía no le permite responder sus preguntas. El poeta se queda con las mismas dudas e inseguridades, que le acompañaban en el principio de su camino. La poesía no le deja satisfacer su “muerte de sed” (18).
La búsqueda de si mismo, el intento de comprender propia identidad a través de la obra creativa es el tema principal del “Sediento”. Octavo Paz también trata el tema del sentido de vaciedad interior, de la “sed”, que a menudo es el motivo principal de la creación. El poeta explica la imposibilidad de huirse de uno mismo; hay preguntas y cuestiones que nos van a acompañar siempre.
El poema está escrito en el Pasado Simple, ya que el poeta se refiere a los sucesos ya ocurridos. Los verbos en pasado predominan todo el poema con una excepción: al final, el poeta saca la conclusión basada en su experiencia; sabe que ya “no ha de beber en las mismas aguas de espejo” (15-16).
