? English Literature Part 2 This research paper explains and analyses the Helena’s speech. This research paper, in addition, answers the questions related with the speaker’s subject matter of her speech. Lastly, this research paper takes part in the explanation of various settings and preparations that should be made in order for an individual to come up with a perfectly modified speech to the audience. For a prolific writer and speaker grooming and putting into consideration, the targeted audience should be the key driving aspects towards the delivery of a well organised and a life-changing speech to the audience. These aspects and qualities of a good speaker are as well brought up clearly in this research paper through the analysis of the Helena’s speech. The language of this play revolves around a prose type of language structure. This particular speech is, in prose, to bring out clearly the atmosphere of the play and the targeted group of audience. The speech of this play is an ordinary one without any particular regular pattern of the accentual rhythm patterns. The lines of the texts as well, in this speech, do not have the same number of syllables as well as any discernible patterns of word stresses. The effects of the prose, in this speech, include coming up with well-structured rhymed verses in the various parts of the speech (Cerasano & Bly, 2010). The rhymed couplets are normally significant aspects, in the word stress, as they enhance a well-organised delivery of speech to the targeted audience. The speaker portrays herself as feeling so cheerful, whereas the mood of the speech strongly contradicts her statement of being happy. The speech talks about love, happiness as well as the changed attitudes accompanied by those experiencing affection in their lives. Love as an inner feeling, the speaker believes is beyond our understanding for it can reverse to a different dimension as well as formalityThe Helena’s speech can be narrowed down into different parts or units for this speech may act as a representation of both a poem and a dialogue. If broken down into verses, the speech will make up a well-structured poem for all the rules and regulations of constructing a poem is clearly followed in the speech. The speech contains the rhymed verse and blank verse as well as the prose, which enhances a perfect breakdown of the speech into well-organised units in order to achieve the set intentions. The principle ideas contained in this speech include the following key aspects: Helena, at the beginning of this speech is portrayed as an imaginary character. The speech narrows down to the Helena’s long-lasting love for Demetrius. This love affair becomes the centre of the speech, as it remains consistent throughout the speech. Demetrius, in addition, towards the last line of the speech remains cruel and hard on Helena, but because of the great love the two shares, Helena is more than willing to be loyal and devoted to his love (Cerasano & Bly, 2010). This makes the two love birds fall in love repeatedly in the whole speech. There are various figurative as well as the rhyming words figure of speech used in this speech. The rhymed verse, iambic pentameters as well as catalectic trochaic tetrameter, in addition, are as well used in this speech. The unrhymed iambic pentameter dominates the figurative aspects of speech used in this speech. This figure of speech tends to separate the upper class from the lower class parts of speech. The blank verse used in this context as well brings meaning of this speech work through the unaccented syllables, which are followed hand in hand with the accented ones. This brings in a pleasant and regular rhythmic pattern. The person speaking in this speech is one of the couple who is in love. The relationship between the individuals being talked about in this speech is of love as well as fear of the consequences of being in love. This is due to the fact that both Helena and Demetrius are both in love with one another, but some unavoidable factors keep keeping the two apart. This affects their relationship and in between Demetrius wanted to break up with Helena despite all the love he had for her. This to some extent heartbreaks Helen, and though she totally believed in their love, she wholly continues devoting herself to Demetrius for their love had already grown stronger. The effect of what is being said to the audience in this love speech is that it makes each individual reflect on their love life and answer the same questions both Helena and Demetrius are battling out in order to have a healthier love life. The purpose of this speech is to divert the attention of the learners in this play by breaking their monotony. This speech as well brings a more practical aspect of a play for it is more of a visual action as it portrays the real character of the speaker hence creating a more sombre mood towards the perfect understanding of the play (Oakley 2011). In conclusion, this speech tells us about the character of the speaker in advance. The emotions of this speaker are what make her speak bitterly about love. This is a feeling she cannot understand hence sharing it with the audience may help her find out some solutions to what is affecting her emotionally. On the other hand, the plotting of this speech creates a moody and calm atmosphere of its setting. This speech is more of a touching story hence it affects the mood of the audience and the atmosphere as well during its delivery as it talks about love which affects nearly everyone in society. We know about the character effect in the way we interpret the speech by her figurative and body language. In most cases during the delivery of speeches the body language such as facial expressions and eye contacts are the key aspects towards the interpretation of the speaker’s characters. In this speech, therefore, through the facial expressions and the love emotions, the audience can easily internet the speaker’s character. This speech reveals the emotions and the belief of the existence of love by this character.
