?Topic Heraldic Shield Introduction This essay will explore the symbolism of objects included on my heraldic shield. This shield is composed of a Latin motto, as well as objects of symbolic value. I have been very creative in designing this heraldic shield. While designing this heraldic shield I have thought on various dimensions of my personality. A heraldic shield usually represents differ rent aspect of human personality like courage, honesty, beauty, grace and charisma. So, in order to reflect all these qualities, I chose couple of birds, animals, plants, trees, colors and a motto. I understand that every shield should represent rich message to people who view it. A heraldic shield represents the vigor and pride of an organization, military unit or any other professional institution. Symbols and their interpretation The first symbol on the shield is a lion and it is an animal known as the king of the jungle and is popularly known for its royal status. Here the shield is held by lion because it is depicting the strength and royalty one needs to imbibe in their personality to build a good future. The lion is always bold in its attitude and every person must have the eagerness to learn from the lion to be bold in every facet of life. The lion also portrays pride, protective nature and braveness. Seeing these qualities in the lion, I believe these qualities also represent myself The other animal which is holding the shield is a unicorn. First and foremost the white color of unicorn is a sign of chastity, purity and virginity. This gives a message to people that one need to be pure and virgin in thoughts. According to (Martin,2010) “To encounter a Unicorn, a person must find a place of true love in their heart. Unicorns have many traits and characteristics, and they mean many things to different people.” In mythology, the unicorn is a symbol of chivalry and it’s portrays the qualities of proud, untamable nature and unique status. Moreover the horn of unicorn resembles the weapon of Christ and one who has faith in Christianity. A unicorn also represents a girl’s virginity and hence a girl should always maintain her purity. Another beautiful symbol which is projected in the heraldic shield is the swan, a heavenly bird. A swan is a bird which is said to be heavenly and popular for its beauty and elegance. This elegant nature of the swan conveys the message to the people to be elegant and gracious. The swan spreads a symbolic message of love, grace and beauty to the people. A swan means beauty, attractiveness and romance. A swan gives an idea to the people that one should always try to remain beautiful. The swan has the strength of beautifying any environment it is in and this attribute of swan communicate to the people to remain calm and serene in any environment they are in. Another gracious bird which decorates the shield is peacock. It s a well known fact that the peacock is the most beautiful bird on earth and it is known for its colourful and shiny feathers and dancing quality. When a peacock dances, everybody sways in the festive mood of the bird. As per (Augustine, 2012)“The characteristics of a peacock are extravagant, making it easy to differentiate between him, his female counterpart and other types of birds.” Here the peacock is symbolic of vanity and fanciness. It represents the core attributes of women, who are always craving vanity and glamour. When it comes to the charm of my heraldic shield, it is enhanced by the inclusion of rose. The rose is one of the most beautiful plants in whole of earth because of its beauty and mesmerizing fragrance. Throughout the human history, very few flowers had the luck to be in the hearts of people forever. The rose is often connected to romance, heart, love and passion. A rose symbolizes the passion and desire a man has towards his love interest. A rose is often connected with the beauty and charm of a female personality. Roses are well known for their heavenly fragrance and also for its devotional and passionate characteristics. A rose also, because of its red color, symbolizes human blood and desire. In her article, Brown (2012) writes that, “For centuries, the rose flower has been synonymous with love, romance, beauty and pleasure, as well as with healing, personal growth and spirituality.” The rose represents beauty and glamour. Another symbol is the pine tree which is decorating the shield with its anti-septic and medicinal properties. It is believed that a person can get imbibed with by sitting under a pine tree. This directly conveys to people that pine tree has the ability to energize us. So placed in the shield it denotes that a person should always be energetic as pine tree. Pine trees additionally have the quality of emotion, pain and creativity. Here the pine tree reminds us to utilize all of our emotions in a creative way in order to develop our personality. Pine also has the quality of being deodorant and this spreads fragrance into the life of human beings. It also has health related attributes like being antibacterial, anti-septic and diuretic. A pine tree is believed to invite prosperity, positive energy and serenity to the home one is living. Apart from animals, trees and birds, color like blue and green also enhance the value and dignity of my shield. The main colors I chose are green and blue. When it comes to green, it symbolizes prosperity, life and creative power of mother earth. If one looks deeply into nature, green is the most obvious color in nature. It also represents tranquility, health and luck. Green wherever portrayed is believed to bring luck from Goddess of fortune. So it is advisable for human beings to interact more with green color in order to remain calm and lucky. Green color is also associated with the ability to bring in fertility and was once a chosen color for wedding gowns. Green color also brings a soothing and healing effect on people surrounded by it. So in the shield, green color depicts tranquility, nature and prosperity. In the same manner, blue is a color which is associated with spirituality and eternity. Like the blue sky and deep ocean the color blue gives a soothing effect to the people who are visualizing it. According to (Howard)“Blue is calming. It can be strong and steadfast or light and friendly. Almost everyone likes some shade of the color blue”. Blue conveys to the people that soul is eternal and everlasting. It also conveys to the human beings the need of spiritual enhancement. Blue color also has the capability to keep the evil away. In this way blue color keeps positive vibes in an environment. Finally, I should explain the Latin motto. The motto is: “The Lord is my strength which reveals that lord is the strength of all beings.” This motto claims that lord is the ultimate power in which everyone should believe in. Lord is the supreme soul which has created this earth and everything on it belongs to him. This motto is a revelation that in any endeavor human being initiate, the Lord is the primary force from which we get strength and power. Conclusion In my heraldic shield, I have chosen lion and unicorn to hold the shield, and birds like swan and peacock inside the shield with blue and green color as the background. There is also a presence of rose plant and pine tree in the heraldic shield. Here the first animal which I included was the Lion, who is the King of the jungle. I chose Lion for the simple reason that it is an animal with a royal status. The Unicorn here portrays virginity, chastity and purity. The Swan represents heavenly disposition and enhance the grace of the shield. Here the peacock stands for everlasting beauty, vanity and grace. The rose represents charm, romance, love and passion in human nature. On the shield, pine tree recalls spreading fragrance, healthiness and positive energy in human life.
