Effect of World War one - Essay Example

The First World War occurred when the society was not such modernized but involved the use of the existing technology at the time (Collins 56). The invasions followed the modern applications of war of attack and defend which is still widely applied in the current war invasions. The war affects soldiers and citizens as a whole regardless of the time of war. The First World War was not an exception because it affected the situations and lives of participants together the soldiers. The life of fighting led to fear among the population with the psychological effect of the war being felt in decades later.

The economies of several countries were affected by the actions of the war. Some countries had to rebuild their economy from scratch. The effect was massive, because a majority of the countries at that time had their GDP relying on agriculture, and the persistence of the war led to crippling of the economy due to reduced export and import of agricultural products. Such changes affected the citizens considerably by increasing the cost of commodities due to the poor transport and communication network existing at the time (Collins 70).

In view of the development of telegram use and the only available means of information sharing was on print material, the communication during the world war was not effective. In fact, the publishing houses were used to spread propaganda with a view to till the war towards the country publishing it. The effect of the war led to several challenges in the society including imbalance in the society between the low income earners and the high income earners. After the war, the civil organization and society were reshaped in a capitalistic way leading to the creation of a man eat man society.

The citizens became poorer that before the world war because of the changes in the economy as well as the destruction of cities and infrastructure. The citizen’s way of life was changed due to the massive destruction of infrastructure in areas with established towns. Health and education sectors were the worst hit because they were still under development leading to the creation of a serious problem to the society thus creating worst scenarios. During the war, the demand for quality health care system was high with remarkably many people nursing injuries from gunshot wounds as well as the bomb related wounds.

The society was still in shock with remarkably little counseling services the soldiers from the war could not fit in the society anymore. Their level of animosity rose beyond the acceptable levels, with not training to have alternative lifestyle. The situation led to the creation of a society with many beggars especially originating from war veterans. The pay during the time was pathetic, at times; there was no payment only fighting to save ones country. Such soldiers lacked the training for the job and could not handle the changes in their routine from military to civilian (Collins 167).

The conditions of the soldiers were worse that the government tried to help in the later years. Even today, the effect of the action of the government on veterans is still visible, but was a concept that began after the world war. With the conclusion of the world war in 1914, marked the beginning of an era of reconstruction within the society and countries. The war soldier had psychological problems that required the work of counselor, but; at the time,
