Freedom, I believe gives you the liberty of living and behaving as you like unless you are interfering or disturbing others freedom and communal order and harmony. This by no mean restricts personal freedom but obviously freedom comes with a responsibility towards your fellow beings and the society where you dwell. As xxx has said, “This realization of freedom must take in to account the existence other free people, who also are realizing their purpose as free persons.” (Dobrynin & Bronius, 64).

Therefore, society has a very important role to play in personal freedom. It ensures the personal freedom of its every inhabitant and bounds him to abide certain laws, rules and moral obligations. We can say freedom and social morality go hands in hand and both support and endorse each other. Freedom by no means an isolated and absolute phenomenon, it has to seen and comprehend in a given domain, social spectrum and legal framework. People, who think that freedom means an absolute liberty to follow your will discarding any boundaries, must have interpreted the concept of freedom at wrong footings.

Freedom, gives you the liberty of enjoying music as long as it does not hurt others, it give you the liberty of having friends of your choice or to live isolated, liberty of living at a place of your liking etc. . Societies all over the globe are constantly reviewing their policies and legislations related to personal freedom and its parameters. Some forms of violation in this respect may constitute a criminal attitude even if it is not injurious to committer himself. Self victimization like suicide attempt, use of drugs, prostitution, begging etc are few examples of these crimes.

Despite having a personal freedom self victimization cannot allowed by a society because it is a disorder that has to be avoided at any cost. These crimes are checked and cursed by all laws, moralities and religions. However, there is a difference of opinion among societies, legislations and moralities in exercising the governmental control or self victimization and people want a minimum external authority over personal freedom. Personal freedom also means a freedom for others and you cannot endanger other people’s life in the name of personal freedom of choice.

I believe there are choices we do not have right to make. Any choice that involve violence towards another individual such as a murder, rape, child abuse, child neglect and assault are all in a sense violation of personal freedom other human beings. Some other basic regulations, principles and rules ensure our own and others personal safety. Traffic rules are a good example where a strict observation not only saves you but also avoid endangering others personal safety. Laws, rules, principles and public safety regulation are good and useful for our common benefit and we all should strictly follow them to respect our own and others freedom to live and enjoy the life.
