It was impossible to reach common happiness without chase the reign of nobility and clergy away and to set the new rules for life in France deliberating from enemies. Truly, French people suffered a lot within the period of extensive exploitation of their moral and physical resources by the power of the bourgeoisie, and the revolution was helpful for the country to empower the nation to gain the gift for freedom and self-awareness in their endeavors to struggle against the internal and external enemies.

Although political terror was a crime against humanity and many French people that supported the counterrevolution, it was necessary to hold power to protect the citizens from the unlawful, exploitative power of enemies, the former ruling class. And Maximilian Robespierre was a leader to support the revolt and inspire many of his followers to gain God’s gift of freedom that France deserved the most. It is possible to argue that political oppression and imprisonment of numerous French people was the step back to the totalitarian rule or authoritarianism.

However, on the other hand, the Committee of Public Safety was not only the body to torture and punish, but protect the military security promoting the numerous victorious events that came possible due to the French revolution. Both Document B and C specify the Committee plan and predicted outcomes of the terror actions that the Committee of Public Safety regarded to become the priorities in their governance. Document B includes the timeline of actions that the Committee of Public Safety had to follow to protect the interests of the revolt and secure the country from the intrusion of enemies of the French nation.

Document C includes the external guidance on the effect of the reign of oppression with the following justification of the new political order. Although documents B and C bring a controversial understanding of the essential benefits of political terror, these are the official historical artifacts that present interests for many researchers in the field of Political Science and Sociology. Although each document issued by the Committee of Public Safety may contradict to the traditionally accepted humanistic doctrine in France, they were understandable for the French people because they served to the explication of the purpose and sense of revolution.

Even though terror, this was the chance to improve the life of common people that deserve the better intentional benefit of the opened opportunities and chances to win the greatest gift of freedom from the reign of exploitation. On July 27, 1793, Maximilian Robespierre was appointed as a powerful figure of the Committee of Public Safety. This entity worked under the Law of Suspects that neglected the reign of the previous political order. Following the legal requirements on terror, the Committee was in power to judge political enemies sentencing them to death in the guillotine.

   The functions of the Committee were justified by their necessity for the revolution in France. And although France was eventually a place where political terror could have become a norm, the short-term outcomes and goals supported by the Committee were useful to establish the new patterns of behavior for people. They learned to respect the government that used all accessible resources to protect their dignity and chase the enemies away from the reign of the wealthy capitalists. Nobility and clergy got the lessons from the revolution, so their reign was about to decline.

Even for the cost of many lives, the terror was justified and had the reason – to help poor citizens to get the opportunity to grow and develop their potential.
