The background has shown itself in Toni’s work for example in she portrays a town similar to where she grew up that is Ohio. Ohio has inspired Toni to write Song of Solomon. Furthermore, the book contains only black main characters and white charters are minimal or minor characters. This kind of racism by Toni must have been fuelled by Toni’s father’s hatred for white people. In her life, at one point white people burnt down their houses in a bid to dislodge them.
