Sentence Computation
This is a policy derived from Greene County Prison. Prisoners who are sentenced to serve their sentences in this County Prison are clued-up of their expected minimum and maximum liberation date upon original acceptance of the sentencing order by the Prison. Since, in most cases, actual release authority must be received from other agencies, these projected dates are subject to agreement and, therefore, may be changed. If any change emerges, the inmate will be informed.
Prison employees are not responsible for determining inconsistencies that a prisoner believes may exist in any verdict or other type of imprisonment authority. Therefore, Prison officials are forbidden from contacting any judicial authorities on behalf of an inmate. Inmates must follow legal matters about their detention either through their counselor personally. Only Prison workers who deal with supervision are endorsed to evaluate and inform prisoners of their release dates.

Parole policy
This policy is also derived from the Greene County Prison. Prisoners receiving a sentence with a minimum and maximum release date must make requests for parole. Prison personnel will commence the application process before a prisoner’s minimum release date. Normally, it takes one to two weeks for the parole applications to be processed through the district attorney, sentencing judge, and probation office. Prisoners should, therefore, ensure these costs are paid with immediate effect. Inmates will not be allowed to leave on their minimum release date if the application has not been approved by the sentencing judge.

Those imprisoned for probation/parole violation(s) do not have to apply again for parole. They will be allowed to leave upon the end of their sentence.
