The audience is unhurriedly pulled into the strange world of the accused person and the Justice system of an underdeveloped Texas town. In this documentary, the creator highlights the vagueness of the suit by continually applying hazy and shadowy reenactments that enhance the numerous accounts of the policeman's killing. The element that renders the scenes in the documentary uncharacteristic is that such scenes are not a common practice in documentaries (Hill and Gibson 1998), and therefore, seem rather unconventional when employed in such a setting.

The creator takes freedoms with documentary outlines by employing these nonconventional and impractical, yet extremely stylized and appealing in visual terms, scenes reminiscent of film noir. Through the examination of the mental fabrications by use of the film scripts, it is easy to understand how one story can be represented in different ways, to give a fundamentally varied construal (Nichols 1991). It is reasonable that the various jurors may have found the accused guilty as charged after being informed of a story about a vagabond traveller who took a minor to watch pornographic related material.

On the other hand, Morris convinces the audience that Adams is not guilty after explaining a narrative of a persistent prosecutor, uncorroborated witnesses, a felonious Harris and of an individual – Adams – who, unfortunately, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. While providing divergent views in regard to what the prosecution had presented, Morris demonstrates how the subconscious psychological creations influence people to interpret some scripts and schemes differently. The Thin Blue Line has been demonstrated to be more significant than a more self-intentionally politically opinionated production might have.

The documentary shows the level of injustice but seems unsurprised by its level in society. It shows oddities in the system but treats them as regular. The documentary discloses all the characters leaving the audience with a deeper comprehension of the intricacies of being human.
