Personal ment by It seems that I have always been interested in journalism due to my inquisitive nature: I used to pay a lot of attention to everything that happened around capturing the smallest details. I also felt strong inner need to express my thoughts, ideas, and feelings in writing. Developing my writing skills I realized that journalism is a unique combination of theory and practice that is absolutely relevant to my interest. It turned out that with the help of journalism I could not only evolve personally but also influence social, economic, political, and cultural progress in my country. Journalism is very dynamic and demanding sphere.There is no time for a nap in journalism just because you can oversleep everything. I was often lucky to get a chance to learn something new and I just could not miss it. I was learning every single day, I started my journalistic path a green hand but in a year or two acquired a lot of new qualities that I could never expect to have. But the more you learn- the more you realize how little you know, that is why I aim to receive additional education in the USA. That is what attracts me in journalism – its overwhelming capacity to make personal and global changes. Then I made a decision to pursue my education in journalism and apply for a bachelor`s degree at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. The desire to become a professional journalist was not the only thing that pushed me to the choice of this career; I was also interested in possibility of research in this field. I also had a substantial practical experience while working for the three major newspapers and TV stations institutions in Saudi Arabia. I saw how the process of information collection, processing, analysis, and demonstration is going on from the inside. During this I time I also understood the responsibility which journalists take when working with information. It is not accidental that media industry workers are called a “fourth power” because they are able to form tendencies and opinions of people. My experience also enabled me to understand the necessity of Mass Communication for the gradual evolution of the society. But I also faced a lot of questions concerning the mechanisms of Mass Communication and purposes of this phenomenon. Inability to find answers on my numerous requests personally led me to accepting an offer of an assistant lecturer position in King Saudi University and achieving a scholarship to study Mass Communication in a graduate school in the United States of America. This scholarship will allow me doing a deep and systematic research which I consider to be the only method of answering those questions. Having learned necessary tools of the research I received an opportunity to examine some topics that are related to Mass Communication field but I hope to improve my level of knowledge further. That is why I decided to enroll in the graduate school at Murray State University. Another reason why I aim to enroll to the graduate school is my desire to help this direction to flourish in my country. I feel that I can contribute to the development of democratic society in my motherland with the help of my knowledge. As for Saudi Arabia this sphere of knowledge is relatively new, there is a crucial need for the experts who achieved experience in the countries with developed journalistic history and traditions. I have the opportunity to make a positive change through teaching Mass Communication to future students in my country. I think it is essential for such countries as Saudi Arabia to participate in international cultural discourse. After finishing my studies I will be qualified for the next step of my career which is becoming a professor in King Saud University. I have a plan to do my PhD in the United States to be qualified enough to apply for this position. Sharing knowledge and interacting with new generation of journalists will give me energy and inspiration because only meaningful communication provides people with fresh ideas. After finishing this program I am planning to do my personal valuable research in the field of Mass Communication. Moreover, I believe that I will be able to explain some new phenomena which constantly appear in this field since it is one of the most changeable and dynamic spheres of knowledge. Day by day we have a new phenomenon that it is worth examining because Mass Communication is tightly connected to technological progress. Questions, such as, the effect of technologies on our interaction with each other as well as the effectiveness of social media toward the society are very urgent and require attention and deep studying. Additionally, I am really interested in the role of media in farming and reinforcing stereotypes about different groups and the possibilities of contribution to creation of prejudice toward these groups. The novelty of my research will consist in applying the experience of Arab countries in journalism. In general, getting a PhD in Mass Communication requires attention as well as dedication to conduct research and read plenty of books and journal articles. Acquiring a PhD degree will enable me to contribute valuable data and reasonable information in regards to Mass Communication. Additionally, getting a PhD degree in Mass Communication is beneficial in terms of re-evaluating the use of social media as well as utilizing the topics that are associated with Mass Communication. Probably, it is clear from my words that I love journalism because it always encourages me to grow, learn, compete, which is very important for me. Thanks to the profession I have the opportunity to change myself for the better every minute. In addition, working as a journalist, I can influence not only my own life but also lives of my friends, my family, and people of my country. I may certainly sound like a maximalist but in a positive sense.
