Brock Community Group History The Brock Community group was founded in 1947 by Cecil Anderson’s small Service Painting Company of Beaumont. The company‘s first assignment was to paint a logo on a tank in the same year of its inception. It is one of USA’s leading industrial specialty service providers. The later entrance of Anderson’s nephew in 1953 sped the company’s development. Mastering all aspects of the operation of the field to the front office, he re-strategized and took the leadership role of the company changing its name to Brock Enterprises. The company under his direction became a premier specialty provider in the areas of painting, scaffolding, insulation and asbestos and lead abatement. This was succeeded under the management of his sons, Todd and Brad The Brock Group has its presence in America, Canada and South America where its employees serve their clients in multiple areas. One of the main objectives here is to aid heavy industrial customers as a one stop provider of complementary services. Vision and Values Safety: This is the core mission which sees that everyone is committed to the prosperity of the organization. The fundamental goal is to alleviate occupational injuries and illnesses through dedicated comprehensive safety training and the administration of safety programs. Commitment: Brock is highly committed to be the best in cultivating leadership and performance as a unique service provider. The organization has a self set mandate of being a one stop shop for providing multi-craft services. Trust: Brock treats well its employees, clients, and the community. Thus, it has well established relations. Integrity: integrity is upheld highly, fairness and ethical treatment demonstrated in all its dealings with customers and employees. Communities: Brock values community and has built a relationship through safety and environmental programs, and gives aid to the needy. Customer Service: Brock values its customers and thus, provides cost-effective services of superior quality. There are three most important things the Brock Community Group addresses: Safety commitment: Brock’s core priority is safety. It is considered more than the goals or the commitment of the organization. Safety culture is upheld that ensures risks are identified and eliminated. Corporate safety organization objective ensures that there is a safety expert at reach for all clients. Environmental, Health and Safety Mission Statement It is Brock’s mission that all employees are involved in the management’s vision to the elimination of job relate injuries and illness while preserving a comprehensive safety program. This is an important part of quality and production objectives. Quality Commitment: Brock’s process-driven approach to the achievement of quality through QAD management s. It is aligned with the customers by ensuring that quality is put in place, proper human resource management, information and structure in order to deliver at each and every project. Community commitment: Every day, it is a commitment of Brock to be of positive influence as good corporate citizens. It is dedicated to ensure that all stakeholders and the community around their working environment is so aware of their environmental safety. In addition to that Brock takes part in various community projects and activities at both the grassroots level and also at the national level. This sets a stage to make a meaningful difference in the society as a whole. For example, the Brock group has made various contributions: It is among the top fundraisers participating in the local charities such as the fibrosis and cysts foundations. It supplied all the scaffolding for the television show namely Extreme Makeover Home Edition which renovates homes for deserving families when it came to Houston. The Beaumont office has set up a scholarship fund in memory of a colleague’s wife and child to benefit medical students at a local university. It is also a sponsor of the Fun Fest in Kingsport (TN) where its client that is Eastman Chemical Company has headquarters. This is a community initiative to promote cooperation and positive co-existence among area residents. African Heritage Month (AHM) Celebration by Brock Community Brock community together with its co-partner, Ontario University organized several events in the second moth of this year. This was in harmony with Niagara African Canadian Renaissance Group University to celebrate this year’s AHM. Various events such as film screening and drumming with an accompaniment of lectures were in order during the event. In this 30 day long event, art exhibitions and other performances were witnessed by all those who attended. The organizers of this event felt that more people had to attend hence they made everything free. The organizing committee had the mandate of creating as much of the impact as possible on the AHM through various tactics. This included inviting various artists who could connect well with the audience in various platforms. One of the most profound artists who graced the occasion was Jean Salomon André who is renowned for paintings that have thematic messages. His work was displayed at the main theatre for the first week of the month. He was scheduled to attend the prestigious open reception at the gallery where he met the artists that were up and coming in his field. The second week also featured James Turnbull, a superior judge in Ontario. He gave a heartfelt lecture about the Haiti situation telling the audience about the journey which the country has taken from the infamous earthquake. In addition, he spoke fondly about the organization he co-founded that was aimed at recreating the justice system. Such were the people whom the organizers were anticipating to grace the occasion and spread the gospel of Brock community’s vision. Dr. William Morrison, a historian, lawyer and educator of black history was also in attendance. Morrison is a recipient of an honorary degree from Brock about two years prior. In attendance at the celebration were groups such as ISPA , Brock International and the Niagara Social Justice Forum. The office of Human Rights and Equity Services (HRES) was able to give AHM activities a boost from their contribution. During this four week activity, number of events took place at the community. For instance, a documentary namely Black in Latin America by H. Gates was highlighted and produced. Gates, an associates with many renowned universities made has a reputation for standing for black rights in his works. Secondly, various works on Ghana and Peru which highlighted the same course were also placed in the limelight. One of the most memorable workshops was held by Gavin Webb of State University, New York. The main theme was about West African drumming, adjunct faculty, State University of New York at Binghamton. Sankey Chamber, was the venue for this activity where he also engaged a talk on the influence from the African who are abroad on popular music in Africa. Lastly, there was also a workshop on Haitian cooking and cuisine. This was held by Haitian students at the same institution. The Brock student club Roots African Caribbean Society organized a concluding act which was very colorful. Ultimately, these events were quite heart-breaking as a lot of new ventures were learnt and experiences from quite a range of diversity of cultural heritage. In conclusion culture is of major importance and must be preserved from generation to generation as a learning tool of our origin and birth of creativity. The Brock Community has in no doubt made an impeccable contribution to the society it exists. Through its social responsibility, Brock community has demonstrated that the events which are organized by its members bring positivity to the world.
