?MATTHEW HALE AND THE CREATIVITY Creativity is commonly defined as “the quality of being creative However in 1973, the word creativity started to evolve for some people. Ben Klassen founded an ethnocentric and nontheistic religion and named it Creativity. However, Creativity was not the original name of the so-called new religion. Its original name is Church of the Creator which as also referred to as the World Church of the Creator. Klassen published the book Nature's Eternal Religion which stated the foundations and principles of the then Church of the Creator.2 Matthew F. Hale was only 2 years old when the Church of the Creator was founded. He was the youngest among 4 siblings composed of boys. At the early age of 11, Hale professed that “white people had been responsible for the vast majority of progress in the world, and as such, the idea that the races were 'equal' to one another seemed incorrect.” This was the year when the future Pontifex Maximus or highest priest of Creativity had his racial awakening. During his collegiate life, Hale wrote editorials for the university paper and there he supported and justified opinions towards White Separatism. The 80s was the era that should have started embracing equality and began to eliminate racism yet there are still people who did the opposite and further discriminate others who are not white.3 Klassen stated in his book that “the black man is without a doubt the most dangerous creature on the face of the earth to the further survival of the White Race. He is a danger that rivals that of the Jew himself, although for different reasons. Granted, the Jew is by far the greater overall danger in manipulating and destroying the White Race.”4 The founder of the WCOTC is one of the people who influenced the ideologies of Hale during his collegiate days. The other person who influenced the 3rd Pontifex Maximus of the WCOTC is Adolf Hitler who made a name for himself in an event famously known as the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler was a part of the German Army during the war between Germany and France. During the first years of the war, Germany gained the upper hand against France. However, when France and Britain joined forces, Kaiser and the German government thought that the only way to stop the awaiting invasion of the foreign troops is to submit against the enemies. There were events that followed that Hitler and his other comrades did not approved of. Hitler and the others thought of the acts as a betrayal from the moralities that they were fighting for. This was the beginning of Hitler’s hatred towards other people who have opposing opinions towards his perspectives.5 Klassen considered Germany, Adolf Hitler and National Socialism as fighters for salvation. It was not just Hale who has been influenced by Hitler but also the founder of the WCOTC himself. It would not be a surprise as to why the Creativity Movement are full of anger and hatred not just to those who are not White but also to those who are White but Jews. Klassen even glorified Hitler’s inhumane actions by stating the following, “Well, he has done a great deal. For one thing he has bought us time. As we stated previously, undoubtedly by the end of the 1930's all of Europe and most likely the whole world would be lying crushed and gutted, cowering at the feet of the diabolical Jewish monster — communist Marxism. Adolf Hitler did not die in vain. He died for his beloved White Race, including you and me. He bought us at least 50 years of time in which we could rally ourselves and make a great Final effort to victoriously crush the monster that is now still clutching at our throat.”6 There are a couple of things that Klassen and Hitler believed in that complemented the thoughts and viewpoints of Hale; this would be hate and racism. Another thing in common between the 2 people who influenced Hale was both Klassen and Hitler committed suicide.7 8 When Hale was proclaimed as the Pontifex Maximus in 1996, he became the most prominent and most effective leader of the WCOTC. The World Church of the Creator seized existence Rick McCarty, who was the last Pontifex Maximus of the WCOTC filed for the termination of organization in 1994.9 Hale, being the successor of McCarty, founded the Creativity Movement in 1996 when he took over the role of the highest priest for the WCOTC. Having his thoughts and viewpoints been stimulated by Klassen and Hitler, it was not a surprise as to why the Creativity Movement became the most infamous hate organization during the 1990s even if it only existed on the latter part of the decade. As described by the Anti-Defamation League on their website, “Hale's publicity skills, his unsuccessful battle to obtain his law license in Illinois, and a two-state shooting spree by follower Benjamin Smith in July 1999 that left two dead and nine wounded, all kept the WCOTC in the headlines in recent years.” Klassen influenced Hale by being a racist. Treating other race like it should not have existed or impure compared to the Whites. Hitler motivated Hale to discriminate people who would not follow him as a leader. Creators, followers of the Creativity Movement, are against Christians, who are the believers of Christianity. Yet Klassen, like Hitler, also discriminates those people who are not a Creator especially if these people are Christians. Klassen further discussed in The White Man’s Bible that “Christianity Must Be Exposed … first of all exposing this ridiculous Jewish story known as Christianity, which I prefer to call the "spooks in the sky" swindle, the greatest swindle in history. Let us examine the physical terror, the horrible instruments of torture Christianity used as a means to bludgeon its way to power, physically, economically and politically. It is a gruesome story, but true.”10 Fundamental Beliefs According to Dyson, members of the Creativity Movement were recommended to remember 5 fundamental beliefs. These would be as follows: “1) We believe that our race is our religion; 2) We believe that the white race is nature’s first; 3) We believe that racial loyalty is the highest of all honors, and racial treason is the worse of all crimes; 4) We believe that what is good for the white race is the highest virtue, and what is bad for the white race is the ultimate sin, and 5) We believe that the one and only, true and revolutionary white racial religion – creativity – is the only salvation for the white race.”11 As those fundamental views are being instilled in the minds of its followers, the world will be filled with White people who just think of themselves. This world was made to be the home of people regardless of their race and religion. There have been too many individuals who have sacrificed their lives to achieve equality between races and yet here is the Creativity Movement that instead of making a move forward to achieve a harmonious world, the group is making more people believe that the only acceptable skin color is White and the acceptable religion is Creativity. The White Man’s Bible Religious groups have their doctrines; Christians have their bibles while Moslems have their Koran. These are the books that contain teachings, passages, parables and principles that will guide their followers to achieve enlightenment. These literary works do not just state the lives of saints or prophets but also serve as evidence that when a goodness is done towards a fellow, goodness will also be given to the doer of the action. Creativity Movement also has their own bible which was written by Klassen himself. With such hatred towards people who are opposing their beliefs and advocacies, there have been massive discriminating acts and killings done against those who are not a Creator. Hale seemed to have ingested the whole concept which was promoted by Klassen in The White Man’s Bible. The 3rd Pontifex Maximus seemed to take actions more in comparison to his predecessors in the organization. His actions were truly vast that it was not just the Blacks and the Christians that the members of the organization attacked. They have also attacked even those White people whom are against their beliefs or are hindering their advocacies. However, it was not just Klassen and Hitler who have the ability to convince people with regards to their inhumane standpoints. Hale was also able to persuade a person who joined him in his activisms against those who do not have the same way of thinking as him and the followers of the Creativity Movement. This person who was influenced and joined Hale in a shooting spree in Illinois is Benjamin Smith.12 Benjamin Smith Just like Hale, Benjamin Nathaniel Smith was also born in the state of Illinois. It was in July 1999 when he, together with Hale, went on a shooting spree in Illinois and Indiana. The rampage was done against people who are not white and those who are Jews. During the month of October in 1998 when Smith became the focus of the Indiana PBS Station and he was quoted, “I’m not blind. I can see that people of color do create a lot of problems for our country. It’s not a personal thing. It’s really just a concern with my own people.”13 If people would only see the broader image of life and not concentrate on themselves, such tragic events could have been avoided. Hitler, Klassen, Hale and Smith had similar views; they existed with so much hate. All men have come from the same roots and therefore all men are brothers regardless of the color of their skin and their religious belief. These 2 factors are not sufficient to judge a person if he is good or bad. People should not judge other people on the mere basis of these factors.
