Currently, there are over 5 billion cell phones which are operating in the planet. By November 2012, the number of mobile phone users in the world stood at 6 billion. This means that, cell phones usually exchanges signals within seconds’ irrespective of the owner’s location. To begin with, the most basic concepts cell phones are electronic devices that are used to assist in mobile telecommunication over cellular networks. Cellular antenna, on the other hand, is the physical devices that are found in cell phones, and they, usually, come in a wide range of sizes and shapes. Their core function is to send as well as receive radio signals. And lastly Wi-Fi, on the other hand, is termed as the wireless local area network that makes use of the radio waves to connect a computer to the internet. All these devices tend to have something in common in that they, usually, emit radiation. An analysis of cell phone, cellular antenna and Wi-Fi radiation reveals that people ought to be worried about these devices radiation. This essay, therefore, sets out to discuss whether people are supposed to worry about cellular antenna, cell phones and Wi-Fi radiation. Discussion People ought to worry about cell phones, cellular antenna and Wi-Fi devices radiation due to a number of reasons. Currently, the number of people who are using cellular phones has risen over time, and it is expected to continue rising over the years. A great number of cell phones being used today operate within a frequency between 800 and 2100MHZ (Foster, 2007). One major reason people need to be concerned about the radiation is that it is at time's increases the risk of cancer. Tests that were funded by the cellular phone industry have found that, there exist possible links between cancer and cell phone usage. The studies asserted that, there are statistical and biological links between the usage of cell phones and the various types of brain cancers. Earlier types of cell phones whose antennas were mounted outside the cars were viewed as safe. But over time, newer versions have been developed, and their transmitting antennas have been placed directly against the human skull (Daniels, 2006). Additional, the cell phones being used are duplex, and this means that the transmitters are always on even in instances when the user is listening. This in a way increases the amount of time that cell phone users remain exposed to the radio waves. Cell phones have also been found to cause damage to the human brain. By the use of an exclusive technique, researchers have concluded that, radiation that is generated by cell phones triggers the heating up of the brain tissue (Blank & Goodman, 2009). This proves that the brain in a way absorbs the radiation that is emitted by the constant use of the mobile phones. Additionally, a number of studies have confirmed that a relationship exists between the use of cell phones and reduced level of sperm quality and sperm count. A number of studies have asserted that, men who use cell phones excessively suffer from damaged and lower sperm concentration (Foster, 2007). Mobile phones, usually, heat up when used and this, usually, increases the temperature around the crotch. This is, usually, not good for the sperm counts. In this regard, men need to avoid putting their cell phones in their pockets, and this acts as a measure to reduce the effects of radiation. These are not, usually, good for the sperms since they, usually, survive well in temperatures that are below 4 degrees. Another major reason is attributed to the electromagnetic frequency that is emitted by the body, and the cell phones. EMFs that are emitted by the phones, usually, penetrates the body thus hindering the useful EMFs that have been emitted by the body, and this, usually, leads to abnormal sperms. Mobile phone radiation can also lead to hearing problems. Individuals who subject themselves to a long period on the cell phones are, usually, at a higher risk of developing hearing loss as compared to those who use it on a limited period. Research has found that, the number of young people with hearing problems is increasing, and they attribute this to mobile use (Blank & Goodman, 2009). Thus, apart from reducing the rate at which people use their mobile phones, people ought to minimize the ringer volume and also avoid hearing music from the phones since it is likely lead to deafness. Though a great number of studies have asserted that there is no biological impact of radiation, others have found out that; there exist some impacts of radiation (Huber et al., 2005). Also, a great number of researchers from different parts of the world have found certain disturbing results than anyone can be able to comprehend. A great number of people are not able to correlate certain health problems and symptoms to the exposure of cell phones since these conditions are easily attributed to other aspects as well. Radiation has been said to cause headaches, fatigue, sleep disruptions (Blank & Goodman, 2009). It is therefore clearly evident that, though brain tumors and cancer have been termed as the potential risks that can be clearly associated with radiation; they are not the only or most common risks that are associated with radiation. Radiation has been said to have various effects on expectant women. Research has suggested that frequent usage of cell phones when a woman is expectant, usually, slows down the brain development of the unborn child (Levitt, 1995). The ever increasing behavioral difficulties in young children are, usually, attributed to the fact that, pregnant women are using cell phones on a regular basis. Some studies have also found that, the radiations from Wi-Fi cell phones and antennas may at times lead to miscarriage. Based on these, pregnant women ought to avoid cell phones during pregnancy period so as to avoid any side effects related to cell phones. Thus, they are likely to bear children who are healthier. A research that was conducted by the European journal of oncology asserts that, radiations from Wi-Fi’s, cell phones and also from antennas can in a way lead to various irregularities to the normal function of the human heart. The research asserted that, Wi-Fi’s, cell phones and also from antennas, usually, emits radiation that can cause the red blood cells to drip hemoglobin. When the hemoglobin buildups, it results in various health complications such as heart disease (Levitt, 1995). Thus, people ought to avoid putting their phones close to their bodies, and this will reduce the effects of radiation on the heart. Conclusion The above discussion clearly evidences that, cell phones, Wi-Fi and antennas radiation have adverse effects on people's health. Radiation in a way causes illnesses such as deafness, cancer, brain tumors. People need to take some precautions so as to reduce harm associated with radiation. Thus, individuals ought to keep radiation exposure to the smallest levels. Individuals need to put measures in place to ensure that, though they are affected by radiation, the effects are at minimum levels. Though people may not avoid the usage of cell phones, antennas and Wi-Fi's measures needs to be put in place. The cell phone manufacturers, governments and any other actors to ensure that the effects are reduced to minimal levels. References Foster, K. (2007).
