Project Cohesion Report “Mobile Application” Student’s Name: Subject: Professor: University/Institution: Location: Date: What worked well as a team Team members were proactively selected on the basis of the skills required for the project. The personality of each was also carefully considered. The resultant team was comprised of individuals who were not only aware of their particular team roles, but also understood what was anticipated in terms of their contribution to the project and the team. All team members exhibited an awareness of the significance of the roles within the team. The awareness was evidenced by their excellent knowledge of the procedure used by the team in planning and tracking of not only the quality, but also the timing of the required tasks. The team leader earned the respect of the team members because of always consulting with the team members prior to making crucial decisions. Parker (2011) stipulates that a suitable team composition is vital for a team to be successful. The team members were committed to the team’s success and shared project objectives as evidenced by their high level of motivation and engagement in the project. Successful teams are engaged, inspired, and aspire to attain the highest level (Galegher, Kraut, & Egido 2014). . They facilitated and cultivated positive, cooperative working relations founded on the focus of creating a quality end product that could impress the tutor, fellow students and end users. The entire team was motivated to aid other teams and shared a robust common objective of developing an app that could support their likelihood of gaining employment at the end of the course. A constructive interdependent team setting elicited the best in each player, thus enabling the team to attain their objectives at a superior level. The members of the team showed that the project’s success was based upon each team member’s contribution. Team members were at all times happy to help fellow team members whenever they were experiencing any difficulty. The team proactively brainstormed difficulties that individuals in the team were experiencing and offered assistance where it was needed. The capability of working effectively with other members of the team fosters a caring work environment (Dunin-Keplicz & Verbrugge 2011). . What did not work as a team The team members came up with many designs for the app. Initially, each member of the team wanted their design to be adopted for the app. The debate about the app design to be used for the app resulted in personality differences among the members of the team. The team recognized that team members had dissimilar personalities that would result in problems at various stages of the project. They decided to express consideration for each other, esteem and support others in hard times. Team members are highly focused on delivering a superior product when they overlook personal issues (Goetsch & Davis 2014). In addition, there was difficulty in physically communicating some features in the app such as ‘map current location’. The team members resolved to offer willingly and receive constructive criticism and provide genuine feedback. The team members recognized that it was to the best of the team’s interest to discuss difficult issues and try to offer constructive criticism in an attempt to resolve them. They strongly valued open dialog that enabled them to express their concerns in a non-defensive manner. Valuing team members’ contribution and articulating it aids to create successful work surroundings (Spitzberg & Cupach 2011). What procedures and software helped, how did they help, and how could they be used even more effectively in future teams Bitbucket Bitbucket helped a lot to know what was updated. Bitbucket enabled collaboration of the project by the team members in an atmosphere that was private. The entire team was able to share in the development of the app as they utilized Git, which is an integrated development technique. Bitbucket permitted the team members to duplicate Git repositories into the app. Therefore, the team members were able to maintain the privacy of the app’s repositories without having to pay the Git subscription fees. The feature also permitted the team to import the Issue Tracking for the app. The issue tracking is a plan built in development tool that facilitates collaboration as it permits customers to view effortlessly commits on the web with no need for locally installed control tools versions. Future teams could utilize newsfeeds pertaining to an RSS stream that are accessible from Bitbucket so as to apportion an activity in an account (Williams 2013). This is capable of helping teams to collaborate and respond quickly to alterations and concerns about any specific project. Photoshop Photoshop was used in making the sizes of the icons and buttons for the application. Photoshop’s Standard Shape feature that has drawing tools was utilized. The process entailed selection of the right tool, selecting a color and drawing the shape of the icon or the button. Control was maintained with the utilization of extra layers. The standard shapes of Photoshop include rectangles, polygons, ellipses, and rounded rectangles. Each shape tool comes with extra options to manage the exact appearance of the shape when drawn. Future teams could use Photoshop’s Custom Shape tool that is packaged with predesigned shapes. The user-defined shapes are capable of being made from any vector item (Chavez 2013). For instance, a corporation’s logo can be transformed into a custom shape. There are many time-saving applications in custom shapes. The vector forms, outlines, or shapes that are frequently utilized are capable of being converted into a custom shape and then saved for any possible future use. Trello.com Trello.com helped to organize. The free of charge application functions well on desktop and mobile phone browsers, together with mobile phone application builds. Trello can be described as a collaboration tool capable of organizing a project in terms of cards and boards. Consequently, Trello enabled the team members better organize tasks as they were able to know the task that was being worked on, the person working on it, and where a task was in process. Future teams could utilize the card copy or move features that simplify task management of template functions. In addition, the creation of a checklist for recurring processes has been simplified. Further, tagging and labeling is another feature that enables the creation of particular color codes on the basis priority (Graziotin & Abrahamsson 2013). For instance, red can be used to denote a paramount task that is due today. Procedures or software that did not help, why it did not help Wrike has a Dynamic Timeline that integrates the automatic email updates and reminders with a definite time Gantt chart that is updated. The Dynamic Timeline is capable of identifying dependencies and project team members by clicking a few times on the interface. The Timeline is generated through tasks for user schedules using the email and permits easy drop exploitation (Highsmith 2013). However, the pricing of Wrike does not favor subtle teams because they deem the pricing to be insufficiently flexible to miniscule organizations that would love to upgrade to Enterprise project management software. Further, the free trial sample offered by Wrike Inclination expired after a short period. What new procedures or/and software would you like to experiment with and why Illustrator software, Xcode, can be used to build a very powerful application in the future. The enhancements that have been made to Xcode permits users to design better apps for iOS that are not only faster, but also contain fewer bugs (Wentk 2011). In addition, it uses Automatic Reference Counting (ARC), which is a memory management system that is already being used on iOS. ARC generates predictable patterns of not only code execution, but also memory use. In addition, Xcode stores information in a maximized and searchable database of symbols. The compiler can execute a highly effective database search the required information when fed with a symbolic reference. Further, Xcode is capable of comparing function arguments within the code versus to the comments and flag mismatches in the parameter names for the user. Consequently, the user can fix not only the code, but also the documentation in the process of app development. Do you consider yourself ready to work in a larger team, either in a company or as a private entrepreneurial group Yes. I acquired valuable experience as a team member that has prepared me for future app development endeavors in a larger team both in a company and in private entrepreneurial groups. Being part of a team enabled me to learn about group dynamics such as solving conflicts so as to focus on the success of a project. In addition, the successful development of the app has boosted my confidence because I was able to articulate confidently my ideas and influence others. Further, I have embraced the culture of commitment and motivation to deliver quality products capable of aiding others that were inherent in my team. Overall how did you find the experience It was so exciting to look for and find what you are interested in and go for it with a team that is interested in the same project. I am glad that I was part of a team where team members were engaged, inspired, and aspired to attain the highest level. Team members expressed consideration for each other, esteemed and supported each other in hard times. Also, the team members were at all times happy to help fellow team members whenever they were experiencing any difficulty. In addition, team members willingly offered and received constructive criticism, as well as, provided genuine feedback. Further, the team facilitated and cultivated positive, cooperative working relations founded on the focus of creating a quality end product that could impress the tutor, fellow students and end users. The team also worked with Dr. Tom whose insights and advice on the application of the project contributed to the project’s success. The entire team was motivated to aid other teams and shared a robust common objective of developing an app that could support their likelihood of gaining employment at the end of the course.
