Executive Summary The Fly Guys is a corporation that deals with flights to and from the capital cities like Aberdeen, Birmingham and Cardiff. The organization has just one plane. This aircraft is an eighty seats capacity carrier. Every day the plane makes one journey with two stopovers. The timetable is Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays they voyage from Aberdeen, make a stopover at Birmingham and conclude the journey at Cardiff. The return flights are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Cardiff, Birmingham and terminate the voyage at Aberdeen. Passengers can book a flight for any part of the journey or for the complete journey. They may opt to book an arrival flight, which would comprise them returning the subsequent day when the aeroplane comes back. The report comprises of three parts 1-3 discussing how spreadsheet and databases can be incorporated in Fly Guys flight booking procedures. Part 1 This section of the report analyses the operations of Fly Guys that fit excel and access operations. Both spreadsheets and databases are essential in the daily functions of many businesses including Aircraft operations. While it is not necessarily essential to select between databases and spreadsheets, they are frequently suited to diverse types of tasks. Comprehending the key diversities between excels and access is fundamental if one want to make the optimal use of either or both. Spreadsheets and databases share a number of features, but they comprises of different technologies (Smith 2015). Databases commonly involve an elevated level of technical procedure. Both spreadsheets and databases provide a range of processing capabilities. Using these, an individual or organization can manipulate, arrange and filter statistics. Databases provide a greater variety of complexity in considering data exploitation, but this must be provided in SQL code or scripting format (Smith 2015). However, for fundamental data applications, spreadsheets offer users with a variety of automated capabilities, which are available to users who do not have a great deal technical experience. A number of data organization needs are only potential using databases, but wherever this is not the scenario; a worksheet may offer a more usable alternative. Access to a spreadsheet is at times imperfect to one individual at a time. With database organization systems, however, many people can acquire the same statistics set. Such mechanisms manage restriction of data so that two individuals cannot change the same data inputs simultaneously (Smith 2015). This approach conserves data integrity that is harder to run when using excels. Result and presentation differs in databases and spreadsheets. With a spreadsheet, organization can create graphs and charts using automated software instruments. With a database, similar output choices are in general a matter for the claim providing admittance to the data. Databases normally need a higher level of technological proficiency (Smith 2015). In this report, we look at the application of database and spreadsheets in Fly Guys case. For the case of “Fly Guys,” if a traveler books a return flight at the similar time as their outbound trip the whole booking is charged at 75% of the regular price. The prices of journeys are as follows: Aberdeen -> Birmingham – £50, Birmingham -> Cardiff – £60 and Aberdeen -> Birmingham -> Cardiff (i.e. the whole journey) - £110. The purpose of this report is to determine how spreadsheet and access applicability in Fly Guys operations. The objective is to determine which application will keep details of passengers, keep details of all bookings made by passengers and calculate the price of a passenger’s ticket based on departure point and destination. This should include any discount due because of the Frequent Flyer scheme or because a return journey has been booked. Keeps details of all passengers booked on a given flight. Access (database) is applicable for keeping details of all bookings and details of passengers. It has an easy retrieval capacity for details that are required and big capacity for all the data pertaining passengers. In addition, the access would allow input of the number of bookings for each part of the journey. The data give demand statistics on many passengers travelling between origin–destination pairs, route information (marketing carrier, running carrier, class, etc.) and price data (quarterly fare priced by Fly Guys airline for an derivation–destination pair , which is averaged transversely all classes of travel) (Jacobs et al. 2012). Even though the raw DB statistics are commonly applicable in academic publications, airlines normally purchase ‘‘Superset’’ statistics from the corporation Data Base Products (Jacobs et al. 2012). Superset statistics are an unambiguous version of the DB information that is cross-examined against other information sources to offer a more precise estimate of market dimensions (Jacobs et al. 2012). Spreadsheet (excel) has computational functions that make it suitable for Fly Guys calculation of the price of a passenger’s ticket based on departure point and destination. Excel has automation functionality that would allow an up-to-date list of the number of bookings for each day of the working week (Monday-Saturday). The amount of revenue generated for each leg of the flight schedule. Part 2 Calculate the price of a passenger’s ticket based on departure point and destination Flight Tickets to and from without in advance return booking Destination Price (£)   Aberdeen 50 110 Birmingham   60 Destination Birmingham Cardiff If a passenger, books a return flight at the same time as their outbound journey the whole booking is charged at 75% of the regular price. Destination price (£)   Aberdeen 75 165 Birmingham 0 90 Destination Birmingham Cardiff If a passenger completed 5 full journeys (e.g. from Aberdeen all the way to Cardiff) or 10 partial journeys (e.g. Birmingham to Cardiff or Aberdeen to Birmingham) they are entitled to get their next flight at half price. The applications are the basic operations of the organization and provided solution applicable to achieve the desired outcomes of the CEO. From the result, it is apparent that sometimes the transfer of information can get disorderly or lost when deleting and rebooking other airline passenger details or price transaction details. To guarantee a clean data and shun the likelihood of losing the innovative space, it is excellent to alter other airline details segments or in separate steps (American Airlines 2014). Such as book new segments, end and retrieve the personal data, ensuring the record provider received back from the other airline and cancel old segments. These practices are easily implemented through databases and spreadsheets. Airlines are embracing e-ticketing procedure; the procedure is executed through databases and excels applications. This process helps Fly Guys and the other airlines departments clearly correspond with passengers. If the Fly Guys airline space is inadequate and passenger wants to travel it, through online databases they can book the new segments prior to canceling the journey. The significant issue to remember, despite of the arrangement in which one cancel and book is to end and retrieve steps and guarantee a proof locator has been established back from the airline industry and is input to the end of the subdivision (American Airlines 2014). Until the database and spreadsheets are received, the passenger is not verified in the airline's system. Electronic ticket documents can be retrieved in the airline database for several days following the last air fragment journey, or for unfasten or unused tickets, after the last intentional flight date. This information easily retrieved and kept in databases and spreadsheets. An error message-ticketing document not establishes will emerge after the chosen time expires. To evaluate the numerous ways to acquire an electronic ticket the passenger can view online ticketing formats made from spreadsheet and databases (American Airlines 2014). It is apparent that, Fly Guys requirements are susceptible to matters of the uncertainty, incompleteness and discrepancy systems like rigorous inspection shown to assist deal with these predicaments (atilim.edu.tr 2011). Inconsistencies, ambiguity and incompleteness that can be resolute in the requirement stage characteristically cost instructions of the size less to rectify than when these same matters originate in later phases of travel procedure. The three issues are easily sorted by use of spreadsheet and databases (Qlogic Corporation 2013). A diagram called Entity Relationship Diagram can graphically illustrate the entity relationship duo. It used in database features but now it is more frequently used in statistics design. The primary reason of ERD is to characterize the relationship between data entities (atilim.edu.tr 2011). Source: atilim.edu.tr 2011 In software application, the software preservation is the procedure of enhancing and maximizing deployed application also remedying faults. Software sustenance is one of the stages in the software application process and allows deployment of the usage into the field. The software preservation stage comprises transformations to the application in order to rectify defects and deficiency found throughout the field application also the addition of new operation to improve the system inconsistencies applicability and usability (atilim.edu.tr 2011). Excel makes it simple to create custom result with very supple annotations and formatting that CEO and passengers of Fly Guys can add wherever place. The importance of Microsoft Access is how databases ease things in airline industry. It may be overload for instance analysis when the reports and data need sustenance over time spreadsheets and databases are handy. Most corporations have many identical spreadsheets tweaked vaguely differently and quickly become incompatible (Chung 2015). A stylish Access database prevents that manageability predicament. That both Excel and Access have their weaknesses and strengths. A hybrid resolution where statistics from an Access database transferred or moved to Excel offers the best of both functionalities. The data reliability of a record with its well-defined and accepted output in combination with Excel intended for ad hoc examination lets Fly Guys leverage the merits of both (Chung 2015). By automated procedure, the distribution of data can be tremendously smooth. In the organization encounter, these resolutions evolve over instance in very non-timetable ways despite the technology. Having instruments, that permit for the suppleness to rapidly react to such transformation empowers managers and the organization to achieve its mission professionally (Chung 2015). In order to offer techniques to recognize similar state of affairs in the data, it is widespread practice to characterize a series of common descriptors (Nisula 2004). The descriptors can be extremely comprehensive items or rough entities, also relying on the magnitude of the data and the selected analysis technique (Swanson, Reding and Schultz 1995). They typically change in time, making it essential to make modification and updating them straightforward. In this instance, the “Fly Guys” airline is employing keyword like booking number ticket number (Nisula 2004). The move is to input the booking and passenger details to ease passenger managements. For case-by-case examination and transcribe, the airline requires to assign an accountable person for every event and track the condition of the exploration and approved actions. Data analyzed simply by monitoring the main data input using the data/filter/auto filter authority (Nisula 2004). This function permits the application to state a filtering principle for each column and demonstrate rows (events) that accomplish all sieve criteria. An imperative variation between analysis with the auto-filter and with the pivot statistics is that the auto-sorting is a one-time activity leaving no trace for later verification. Excel is an elastic and used for many functions and in many diverse approaches (Nisula 2004). Conclusion Access to a spreadsheet is at times imperfect to one individual at a time. With database organization systems, however, many people can acquire the same statistics set. Excel makes it simple to create custom result with very supple annotations and formatting that CEO and passengers of Fly Guys can add wherever place. The spreadsheet and databases are essential for the Fly Guys operation. Recommendation Fly Guys must use spreadsheet and databases to enable them serve passengers more efficiently. Use of spreadsheet and databases will enable e-ticketing process. References List American Airlines 2014, E-Ticketing - American Electronic Tickets.
