Computer Based Information Systems A. ment: Computer based information systems have of recent turned to be strategic tools in numerous organizational contexts chiefly because of their support for business objectives. In fact, organizations already deem the technology as fundamental driver of the success and innovations associated with today’s business environment. B. The Value added to the statement is: 1. Information storage is one of the spheres in which computer systems support business operations. The contemporary business contexts feature sophisticated database systems that are capable of giving real-time and detailed analysis of issues such as customer purchase trends, employee salaries and inventory track of enterprise-owned items. The systems help in increasing efficiency. 2. The increasing growth of social networks is another area in which computer systems support the contemporary business environments. These networks provide business enterprises with an avenue to explore the personal details of the target clients then use the information found to tailor promotional messages to suit the target clients, a factor that has seen most organizations increase their customer base. 3. Computer systems have also brought about the construction of customized software applications to meet particular organizational needs. An example of such applications is the customer relationship management (CRM) software that is intended to address concerns of clients in a well-timed manner whilst reducing the number of work force required in a business’ customer service section. C. Conclusion: Many are the operations that computer systems can support. Organizations that embrace these systems in their daily operations are likely to experience time-based efficiency and reduced operational cost, which translates into increased profit margins. Enterprise Network A. Statement: The underlying principle of an enterprise network is that every system should be in a position of communicating, providing and retrieving information. Attainment of this principle is not a one-time thing; it has to go through numerous evolutions that cut across several spheres of an organization. B. The Value Added to the Statement is: 1. A business’ social environment is one factor shaping enterprise network evolution. Basically, business enterprises need to engineer their societies in a bid to enhance the routinely operations. A good example is a business resorting to embed the Facebook follow button on its official website in response to the growing number of Facebook users. 2. Globalization is another factor that shapes the evolution of enterprise networks. A business enterprise intending to provide services or products all through the globe would need to use IT systems that comply with the global standards. For instance, an enterprise intending to attain a global competition edge would be compelled to use business intelligence tools used by competitor enterprises. 3. Technological developments also influence the dimension that enterprise networks take. Technology constantly replaces low skill positions and roles even in the network arena. As such, businesses have to upgrade their enterprise networks as per the technological innovations in order to remain relevant in the face of this fast paced business environment. C. Conclusion: The dimension of an enterprise network is dictated by a number of factors. Every evolutionary measure that pertains to an enterprise network should therefore put these factors into consideration if attainment of the overall organization objectives is anything to go by. IT Infrastructure A. Statement: IT infrastructure is a collection of computer software, hardware, resources plus network services that a business enterprise needs to sustain, operate and manage its IT organization. An IT infrastructure will often consist of different components working together to achieve a common goal. B. The Value Added to the Above Statement is: 1. First, the infrastructure will include hardware facilities like routers, hubs, switches, repeaters, servers, computers, data centers, access points as well as uninterruptible power supply (UPS). These tools are intended to support the applications that organizations run to meet their unique needs. 2. Second, the infrastructure will constitute of software facilities like customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resolution planning (ERP), productivity applications along with other web platforms that support the day-to-day business transactions (Laan, 2013). Without this class of components, the hardware facilities would not be of much use. 3. Third, the infrastructure constitutes the network enablement tools like firewall systems, internet connectivity and security measures like end-to-end encryption strategies to govern web transmissions. These tools are instrumental in ensuring the hardware and software components operate in a manner that leads an enterprise towards attainment of the strategic objectives. 4. Finally, an IT infrastructure must constitute the meat or live ware. This class of components refers to the human forces that interact with the IT resources in order to deliver the enterprise values. Found under this category are persons like business analysts, software developers, support officers and network administrators. C. Conclusion: The components of IT infrastructure, working together, can help a business enterprise to support internal business transactions, develop customer IT-driven solutions and develop business solutions Binding A. Statement: Binding in computing refers to the procedure through which clients create local associations in order to handle to handle a particular server with the aim of invoking remote procedures. The concept bears a close relationship with the remote procedure calls (RPC) especially in the context of RPC runtimes. B. The Value added to the above statement is: 1. Generally, clients and servers employ binding handles when referring to binding information during RPC and run time calls. The usual manner of operation is that servers get full lists of respective binding handles from the relevant RPC runtime whereas clients get individual binding handles on a one-at-a-time mode from the relevant RPC runtime. 2. A critical component of all interface definition languages is a globally individualized identifier for each of the specified interfaces. A client is expected to send this identifier within the initial RPC message then the server validates that the supplied identifier is appropriate. If this style of operation is followed, any client inadvertently trying to bind to an incorrect server or older versions of relevant servers will receive a server-generated error then binding ceases to take place. 3. In essence, it is the binding concept that renders RPC systems capable of automatically locating appropriate servers, and subsequently setting up client-server communication software utilities. C. Conclusion: Binding helps to associate an importer of an interface to an exporter of an interface. This allows client machines to specify the servers that they want to bind to in addition to allowing callers to establish the machine addresses associated with their callee. Cloud Computing A. Statement: Cloud computing refers to a computing approach that depends on sharing of computer resources instead of personal devices and local servers to tackle business software applications. Companies like IBM and Microsoft Azure are at the forefront to provide the necessary cloud services, with the objective of offering clients with an operational platform where charges for services are purely founded on the bandwidth, storage or the CPU cycle consumed B. The value added to the above statement is: 1. The cloud’s support for self-service provisioning is one of the reasons why a number of business enterprise seek cloud services. This capability allows end-users within a business enterprise to spin up varied computing utilities for virtually all types of work load on demand. 2. The elastic nature of the cloud resources also allows business enterprises to scale up or scale down computing needs as per the demands of the prevailing operations. This capability helps business enterprises to channel funds only to computing resources that are used thus helping to save on the operational cost. 3. Companies that rely on cloud-offered services also evade the need to invest in sophisticated disaster recovery plans. Often times, the service providers will be in apposition to handle most of the disaster-related concerns in a faster way. As pointed out in the study undertaken by the Aberdeen group, business enterprises embracing cloud services are capable of resolving issues almost 4 times faster than counterparts that never use the cloud-based services. C. Conclusion: The cloud concept is a great tool to eliminate the need to run software programs and applications using software utilities that had to be downloaded into hard drives or physical servers.
