Essay “The growth in internet use has affected cultures around the world leading to westernised homogenous world culture” name University Data Internet is considered to be a global system of network interconnection with the help of technical devices. Internet connection realizes by Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) which is the most momentous computer networking technology, computer language which assist people with the connection. Internet started to exist in the 1960s in USA. Firstly, it was invented to connect scientist and named as U.S. Department of Defense network. University professors found out an easy and quick way to communicate with each other and to send information. Lately network connection was also used for Pentagon aims but a wide usage of these benefits was spread among scientific circles and with the aim of development new technologies and science study (A Brief Guide to the History of Internet, 2014). Today, a network connection plays an important role in different spheres of life. More than one billion people use internet every day. It becomes an essential part of society and world at all. Internet serves a “global data communication system” and links together a huge amount of academic and business, private and public, cultural and scientific spheres (A Brief Guide to the History of Internet, 2014). Moreover, it provides a great influence on almost all spheres of life and existence of the world, a country, a community, a group and a person generally. There are no doubts, that with the growth of the internet possibilities to communicate, opportunities to serve the problems and sources of information are increased to about unlimited numbers. Today’s society has a big number of benefits which are provided by internet. We have a large potentiality to self-development and communication with people. Actually, modern person does not imagine his/her life without network connection and it becomes a hurdle for current people to spend at least one day without using internet. Still, it should be mentioned that web has provided some negative effect on a society and not only benefits, but also drawbacks are presented by this development of technical progress device. Let us become closer to this point and determine this influence. A high percentage impact of network connection is visible in such spheres of people’s life as: Business Youth culture Language Business is the sphere which deals with the money and incomes. People who are involved in business are usually serious and clever. They deals with important issues and are responsible for an essential questions, for big money or even for people and their problems. Generally, they attend different conferences, involved in various partnership relations and business lunch is considered to be a usual thing for them. Internet provides a helping hand in business sphere as it is a rapid and reliable way of information exchange and business communication. Now a person from Europe does not have an obligatory intention to cross a thousand kilometres for resolving business affairs for example with Chinese partners. What is more it is rather popular nowadays to built online business. A large amount of people deal with the online business and make a great profit on it. This area is widely occupied by trading business. It is hard to name a widespread trademark which is not represented in the network world and has no its own website. It seems to be easy and profit way to make a good advertising campaign by mail marketing and blurb on websites (Shaoolian, 2013). Still, this online business may create hurdles for both proprietor and consumer. Doods (2013) argues six reasons for online business which may be struggling for people. This journalist finds out some barriers for making business through the internet. The first one is focused on the right niche. Doods (2013) notes that a business man can define a wrong sphere or has no sphere at all. The matter is that the one who put a website with some commercial idea are to be certain in concept and in its success. The question of demand and competition of product or service should stand firstly as there are a lot of competitors in trade sphere. The second one is appropriate plan and business model for a website. There are a lot of examples random and unreasoned offers which cannot achieve success in the huge network world. The third idea is an absence of concentration on one proper issue. People with a wide range of opportunities can make a loose sometimes and fulfil wrong tasks. The fourth reason consists in being a control freak. This means that it is crucial point to find a right balance for your occupation which deals with online business. It takes a lot of time, and also need a high quality of created website and proposition. A person who deals with the online business are to be sure with the offer he suggests as there are a lot of substandard products in the network sphere. The fifth point concerns with the marketing of the products. There are a lot of examples of good advertisement and quality of a products or service but absence of appropriate skills to sell this product. Hence, it is obligatory to have a clever marketing strategy. And the last reason is “bought into the get-rich-quick dream”. This is considered to be a kind of trap in which you invest money and have nothing as a result. You may be wrong with your confidence in the success and make a failure even than the affairs begin with flying colours. Online business is extremely wide-spread nowadays, so it is rather hard to commence this kind of business with a success. There should be a fresh idea and rational strategy for not to be lost in the stream of network space. Also consumers can be at the strict situations. The goods or services which are suggested to them can be of different quality and this property is not always high and satisfies customer demand. A person who orders something through the internet may be outwitted and misguided. All in all online business is rather strike affair and everyone needs to be careful while occupying this area. Moreover, web connection cannot replace a real business encounters. And live communication is definitely better that through the monitor. As in reality you can see his nonverbal signs and feel the true motives of business deals. The second relevant issue for us is youth culture. Young generation is considered to be the future of the notion and the humanity at all. That is why the development of culture, favourites and affairs which young people deal with is rather important point for society. Modern culture relates to the paradox. People want to create something which is wrong or mistaken and regarded is as a true thing. It is a notion that contemporary world knows everything and there is nothing to investigate. All main revelations have already discovered, so today’s individuality has no way to express something new (Giovanni and Schmitt, 1997). That is why artist are searching sense in some ridiculous things. Absurd and inappropriateness are valued for them. Moreover, the matter is that modern person can observe everything. We have an access to any information we want or need. Internet is the one who gives this opportunity to people in nowadays world. With the furious growth of technical progress and internet access a new youth culture is appeared. A network space gives an opportunity for the development of cyber-cultures which are different and detached from off-line identities. The notion of cyber cultures and online reality appeared in 1980s and become widely popular in new generation circles. Bryan (2013) indentifies cyber culture as a one which emerges with the usage of computer networking for communication entertainment and business. Such notions as online multi player gaming, social media, social gaming and texting are appeared. These issues are related to identity, privacy and network formation. People started to play video-games using network recourses. They just need to create a profile with a quick registration and be involved to the amazing virtual world of online games. It was not free of course but there was a huge amount of people who paid for that affair. Internet presented to a person an opportunity to play exciting game with a help of pressing buttons on the keyboard. People need only click on menu choose a right option and clever machine are able to make any available function. Later chat boxes were created which help gamers to communicate. There is two ways to make a chart while playing a game. You are available to do it in a chart room or a chart box with the printing some pieces of information or with the help of your voice using your microphone. It is considered to be an easy and joyful way to spend free time. Video gaming occupies a great niche in the life of modern people. It is growing with a great perspective in the youth culture area. Although, there are more negative sights of online gaming can be admitted. It is spoiled lives of great amount of people as young generation become addicted from this online gaming process. It takes away peoples time and it becomes hard to return to a real life and live with all benefits of real communication with people. It is considered to be a real problem for today’s generation with a poor ways for resolving it. One more display of cyber culture is connected with the social networks and blogs. It becomes rather popular to blog in a social network and to tell your thoughts and affairs through the internet. That is regarded as a mainstream nowadays. And it is rather hard to find a person who has no profile in the Facebook or Twitter. Modern person makes connections with people in such a way. It is very important for us to tell different trinkets and baubles from our life in the social network space. Moreover, we support it with the photo reports which we put on in our profiles. People observe this things and put likes and comments on it. It breaks person privacy and individual world but we lead to it with a full realization. That is more it is our intentional desire to be involved in this affair. The implications are not rather prosperous. People become homogenous and internet routine captures them completely and fully. Thai is why people do not feel the taste of real life. To update a profile, to add new photos or to follow new page became more important than to have a cup of tea with a good friend. The third essential point is language influence. Then the network connection become widely spread new notions appeared and new slang in the sphere of communication become popular. Slangy expressions are existed with a high usage in everyday life and social network communication. For example, people who make a young generation fifty years ago hardly understand a slang of today’s youth. There are a huge difference among them and internet made a big investigation to this difference. For example, it is hard to find a person who is seventy years old now and who is familiar with such expressions as ‘LOL’ or ‘OMG’ now. They just are not able to understand them and it is considered to be a generation gap. The process is rather normal, but slang language catches the world with the extremely quick and huge development. It seems that people in a couple of years will be communicating with the help of reduced words and express emotions with the help of smiles, variety of which is widely represented in the social network space. Lee (2011) argues that Oxford English Dictionary includes into its content such words as LOL, OMG and ♥. They have its own explanation and etymological background represented in this proper dictionary. They are called online ‘initialisms’ and these words “help to say more in media where there is a limit to a number of characters one may use in a single message” (Lee, 2011). This fact can be funny but it shows how deep the slang influence is and how mainstream affair it becomes. This is convenient and quick way to express what you mean, what is comfortable for modern busy society. Still, this leads to illiteracy and mistakes in academic writing. People may take a mistake which is made in social network for the write variant and permit this mistake in academic writing material. All in all internet influence on modern society is extremely high. Network technologies affect our lives both positively and negatively. There are no doubts that internet brings a lot of benefits, still drawbacks are rather important and serious. It may causes addiction and waste person’s live, influenced its language and behaviour, or takes away all savings with no turning back, or what is worth snaps off person from real life and make his/her totally dependent from the internet. Network space is a mainstream nowadays and it leads to westernised homogeneous world culture. People and all its stuff become a network routine which is mixed and appeared as a one huge swamp in which a modern world is weltered fully and irrevocably. Reference List: Brake, M.
