Computer and Allied Systems Introduction The trend of the present world depends largely on the usage of computer and allied systems across the work field everywhere in the world. It is essential to learn about computer for each single step man makes to move on his life today. Some of the advanced areas of computer hardware and networking areas are mentioned in the following paragraphs in detail. Serial Ports Much prior to the development of USB ports itself Serial Ports were devised and used in large business concerns. Literally, this indispensable peripheral has been used over 20 years. Serial Ports usually support USB drives to perform various Hard Ware connected activities like printing, fax etc. These devices are easy to get through an easy way but the physical occupation of the portals is rather complicated when compared to USB ports, say, they involve wires and cables longer than the latter. These devices are governed by standard connectors with an authorized protocol to allow and protect connections and the computers. UART Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter or UART, is the name of a system by which the new device of hardware networking performances are governed. The UART chip takes the parallel output of the computers system bus and transforms it into serial form for transmission through the serial port. The in built buffer of the UART are of arrange between 16 to 64 Kbps to support the fast track performance of the network. This buffer stands in the midway and cache data from the system bus as it is processed and sends it to the serial port. There are new divisions of advanced ports of which the newest is the parallel port. This port can replace a serial port and perform faster than it by 8 times. The parallel port is so simple to use that it is sure to replace the UBS port sooner. Although this system is faster, it requires eight wires to travel the data instead of the single wire used in the serial port. The reason is so clear that while serial port takes 1 cable to send 8 bits of data at a time, parallel port takes 8 wires to do it. In the core sense, serial ports reduce expenses towards cable networking. The transformation of data in serial port is of a locomotive kind; it initially takes a bit or 0 bit to start a data and uses another 0 bit data to make a full stop of it. Serial ports are bi-directional. They are called communication (COM) ports. This system has a choice between half duplex and full duplex communication. In half-duplex communication, the data processed is received only through one pin and sent through another pin; whereas in full duplex communication, it is possible to receive and send out data through the same cable. This full duplex communication is made possible by the design by implicating several pins to run serially with each one having a specific task to do. There are now some developments of this system such as Enhanced Serial Port (ESP) and Super Enhanced Serial Port Super ESP) to reach data transfer rates up to 460 Kbps. The Serial Connection There can be number of pins varying form 9 to 25 in a serial port. The serial connector was originally used to connect a modem to the computer. It can be recognised from the pattern of pin assignment. The nine pin connector can be described of its usage with the modem in the following way. Firstly it detects and determines if the modem is connected to a working phone line. Then it enables the computer receive information sent from the modem. The next work of this system is to send information to the modem after processing received data. The conversation of the computer starts now, it informs the modem that it is ready to respond. Then the pin is grounded for signals and once again the modem tells the computer that it is ready to talk. The computer then sends a request to the modem if it can send the data in response to which the modem answers with ‘yes’ or it tell the information can be sent. The clear signal from the modem invokes the computer to send the processed information. It is specific with the ring detector, which means if the active line receives any phone call; the modem indicates the ring to the computer on the desk top. Robotic searches Robots have been the best replacement human could ever have made for him. Human control has developed the usage of robots in industrial sectors and even agriculture and house keeping. Though easiness is the key aspect of usage of computers and robots, there must be separation of linking factors from human life when it matters the operation of robots. They perform their functions in a pre-designed behaviour or in what way they are called programmes. In some highly vulnerable and risky areas of work such as mines and furnaces, the aid of robots is an energising factor. There is another problem in association with robots; they have to be guided each time by human controller. For instance, if the robot is to pick a minute or more dangerous thing and drop it in a spot, the operator has to ceaselessly type and reset the movement of the robot with his commands and syntaxes. In such areas, it is always advisable to install a visual in put device such as a camera or image reader. This enables the computer to activate its interface visual decoding. This kind of a photographic commanding system will boost the robot with more sensible commands and is also beneficial for the human controller that he can save time searching the micro mini substances. Third Party Control The Web can imaging is so effective in controlling system that is draws image ever ten milliseconds. Thus captured image goes to a rack in the control system called Image Captured Event. This profile installation in the computer is based on Visual Basic 6, which is the best sorted imaging programme. Critical Appraisal This presentation on the basic concept encouraging a vision based interactive robot control is proactively effective as it can reduce the human control to great extend and guarantee maximum result. This multi model man-machine interaction system has multiple channels of outsourcing and passing information. Visual basic robotic control system has little chance go wrong as each progress of its action is based on a photographic reference. In the future we can expect the entry of several systems of visual basic operations to judge the movement of a machine with the direction of the controller’s view directions. But it is indisputable to say that such a system which ca judge and act upon human eye contacts will definitely be the maximum of achievement in robotic science as for the preset time. Read More
