TWITTER VS. FACEBOOK By This report involves analysis of two major social sites namely Facebook and twitter. These sites have the largest number of users and are the most commonly known social sites by all people worldwide. The advantages of these sites were not alone as some vices were also in inclusion. These vices did reduce the morale and freedom of users of the sites. The sites should hence be more secure by adding some more privacy options and applications to block bad intent users and their blogs. Tabulations and the course of the whole research are discussed below in broad. Table of contents Abstract Contents Introduction Methods Results Discussion Conclusion References Introduction The internet has become a major platform for socialization through several social sites available these days. Some of the social sites available include Facebook, twitter, Instagram, whatsapp and 2go. Through these sites, the world has been reduced into a small location where people easily interact and share what they have. Though they are of advantage of bringing people together to share constructive views and news, social sites have been in criticization for bringing up bad vices to the community. Some user may become addicted to social sites and chats until they become antisocial. They are a major revolution in the current century. Methods The information about the social sites and their effects comes from the general understanding of the functioning of the sites and their seen effects on daily human life. The work is a combination of daily experiences with research works from libraries both virtual and physical. A real life example is also an inclusion in the work. The effects analyzed herein are trivial to some extend but they do affect the comfort ability of users and the site’s reputation in general. Results From the research, it was found and the researchers came to conclusion that Facebook is the most widely used social platform. It has a membership of about 1.15billion users worldwide. The result for this discovery was because Facebook was found to provide more customization options and was less official. During the research, several analyses on the contents from the sites were made and it came to conclusion that more than 2.95billion pieces of information are available for sharing daily on the platforms. Social vices were also in notification during the study. Some of the vices did include cyber bullying and this, as was discovered latter, was a vice mostly from teenagers. Below is a fact box that shows a summary of some of the data and facts that were under study during the research. Facebook Twitter Networks people Networks ideas Users share 2.5billion pieces of information each day. 5,700 tweets happen every second 65% of users are 35years and above 55% of users are 35years and above 40% of users are male and 60% are female 40% of users are male and 60% are female Discussion The current century, always known as the digital century is a time when social media and trending sites are in the sharing of very many people across the whole world. Though social websites are many, there are two major social websites in use by most people and those are Facebook and twitter. These two sites receive most visits than any social website in operation currently. Facebook is the most common site to many people, both young and old. This social site makes connection to your family and friends easy online. It was originally a social site for students at Harvard University but today it is the world’s largest social site with more than one billion users. Twitter is also a social website that is second to Facebook when it comes to membership and numbers using it. Twitter is a micro blogging site that keeps people ahead of information about what is trending. It involves writing what you need your followers to know shortly by just mentioning it and then leave it at that. Twitter balances between blogging and instant messaging. It is a tool to communicate with a group of people through instant messaging and one can follow other people and have followers. The two sites have similarities and differences in the way they operate and the services available to their respective customers. a. Similarities between Facebook and Twitter The above social sites have some similarities some of which include; both of them are social sites, both need internet connections and both have age limits to sign up. In the first similarity, both of them are social media websites. This means that they are sites where friends and family members meet virtually. They have provisions that allow friends and family to chat, send each other messages and to some extent, pictures. People get news and ideas about what is happening daily from these sites. Some people take this advantage of social networking too far until vices like cyber bullying emerge. Both the sites also need internet connection for people to log in and share what they have. You cannot connect to your Facebook friends or twitter followers without internet service. These are online social platforms and therefore internet connection to both is vital. The last similarity is that both accounts have limits to those who can join them. This means that when a person is a minor and does not meet some of the qualifications like having an email address cannot join the network. Such qualifications are a way to curb the entrance of kids who do not know how to talk sense on the platform. b. Differences between Facebook and Twitter There are several differences between the two social websites and they include; Facebook is a network of people while twitter is a network of ideas and topics. Facebook connects people mostly friends. They share pictures, texts, and many other informal things while twitter only networks idea and trending news. Twitter is more on official matters than Facebook. Facebook allows its users to write a book or any text of a longer length while on the other hand, twitter limits only to 140 characters. This means that with twitter only the idea is important and not stories. On Facebook, you can find old friends from high school, primary and college. These friends can reconnect easily through Facebook. On the other hand, twitter only has trending topics like the Oscars, presidential debates and celebrity stories. With face book, one has friends with whom they share their stories and pictures and chats. On the contrary, twitter has followers. This does not necessarily need to be your friends. They are people who are interested in what you are doing and want to know how you are fairing on. Conclusion The two social sites are vital currently because they make people to interact from all spheres of life and share important constructive ideas. These sites can help someone to back up some of their important information as it is on Facebook. This allows a person to be of free mind when it comes to safety of his or her information when the computer crashes. Social vices such as cyber bullying that is growing among the youths may lead to fear of signing up in these social sites and therefore the safety of users must be priority. In the current century, social sites networking is the most interesting way to spend your time on the internet. Read More
