Technology in Academic and Personal Life - Essay Example

To start with, I have found the incorporation of technology in my studies to be very useful because of the readily available information on the internet. According to Educause, technology provides access to vast amounts of information through the use of tools such as the internet and online databases (n.d.). This is true. I do not encounter unsolvable academic problems because I have easy access to internet tools at home and the school library. For instance, whenever I need clarification on certain topics during my revision, I look up on the internet where there is virtually an answer to every kind of question.

Secondly, the incorporation of technology in training through our lectures has helped to grasp the ideas put forward easily. This is because technological presentations enable the lecturers to point out the key information easily and at ease. According to Narada, the use of good presentations can impact the success of students in their studies (2011). Considering how technological presentations are made, students are attracted to the method of presentation hence making them pay full attention to the tutors. This is arguably true because presentations made through the incorporation of technology, for instance, PowerPoint presentations, appeal greatly to learners.

Lastly, the incorporation of technology in education has helped me to improve my academic performance by enabling my lecturers to have individual-based supervision. The use of computers by students facilitates flexible training by lecturers because every student can submit their work at their convenient time. Further, the use of computers enables the lecturers to identify students with weaknesses on particular topics and attend to them individually as opposed to training the whole class at once. This is the reason for my improved academic performance because I have received important assistance from my lecturers.

On the other hand, the use of technology has been beneficial to my personal life in two major ways. To start with, technology enables me to keep in touch with friends and relatives over far distances. In particular, people use telephones and computers to communicate with people not close to them with a lot of ease (GadWorld.org, 2011). For instance, I have been able to keep in touch with my friends via Facebook, a social networking website.

Secondly, the use of technology has been helpful in my life by being the main source of entertainment and news. Several online websites provide different forms of entertainment such as music and computer games. In addition, being a member of a well-established social networking website, Facebook, I receive different forms of information from time to time hence keeping me updated with the latest news in the world.
