Examine five advantages and disadvantages of touch input over traditional keyboard based input. The world today is ruled by touch input devices. The keyboards are another similar items that have been replaced in this regard by the modern touch keypads.There are two sides of the conventional keyboard input devices, negatives and positives. When one goes to market, for them it’s a difficult decision to choose among these two types of devices. The conventional keyboards have following advantages:1.

The keyboard allows typing in a fast manner. People since long have used typewriters. So many people ranging from older age group to the young prefer this type of typing source.2. The second advantage being advocated is that of accuracy. 3. Screen sizes are also one of the biggest advantage of keyboard over touch input.4. Keyboards are less expensive as compared to touch input device.5. The traditional keyboards are more reliable and strong enough to bear the shocks such as getting wet or falling from a certain height(McFedries, 2012, 12).

Having highlighted the advantages, there are some disadvantages which has created a space for touch input to come in market.Disadvantages:1. Now the big screens are modified into small screens with the passage of time, portability is a serious factor.2. Traditional keyboards are lagging behind in the domain of fast and efficient browsing mechanism.3. There are many cases reported that sometimes buttons may get stuck and may be hard to press after too much use.4. Similarly with the process of modification the buttons have become smaller with small screens.

It is also one of the hindrance in typing for most of the people.5. For using keyboard the need is that one must be accurate in typing and have a high speed of typing.Gesture based input devices:These devices are largely handy in cases of physical disability. The question of their reliability is another issue related to them. One of the most prominent advantages attached to them is that of easy to understand expression based gestures. The sensors installed that enable detection of the operations and movements make them ever so reliable and effective to work with.

These devices enable complete independence from any kind of manual device and apparatus that is being used presently which are far more slow and little productive as compared to the new sensational mode of input device in form of gesture based application.The second advantage is that of natural adaptability towards these devices and symbols shown.They allow improved degree of freedom for the hands movement. Multiple touch option at one time is one of the salient features that gives the touch panel a distinction over the contemporary means of typing keypad styles and functions available otherwise.
