The New World of Digital Rules and Dominance Why we expect more from technology and less from each other In today’s world we all are surrounded by digital equipments, ranging from our apartments, to offices to automobiles. Everything is subject to technology and its gadgets. Technology is the constant companion that has replaced the conventional form of companion which used to exist in form of human beings. The reason is the mere fact that technology offers more than an individual does. It gives us company, it leads us on the roads, it keeps us busy when we have no one to talk to in the middle of the night, and it’s the silent friend that speaks even without the use of conventional form of vocal chords. Another aspect to preference of technology over the human relation is the element of no strings attached factor. It does not demand time in return, no attention, and, discard and replace as one pleases. It is available when needed and it disappears when not needed. It does not bring along major liabilities with itself, certain amount of investment and the technology is man kind’s slave without any major demand for returns which is characteristic element of human beings. This age is rightly called the robot age since emotions have gone on to the back scene, what is needed and demanded by the people is task accomplishment and material objects achievement. This all is possible through technology and hence without a second word, a compromise in the manner in which human beings relate to each other and more reliance on the technology (Turkle, 2011). People are so much taken over by the needs that they relate more to the materials and sources that fulfill their needs than those who are their own clan- the human beings. The amount of time spent over internet and with these digital devices all around in vicinity, it has increased the human’s desire and attachment to this new specie. While the web 1.0 served mainly professional services, and had reduced segment of companion ship, the modern form web 2.0, has patched up and made for the short comings. In other words, it has totally subjugated the human beings. It offers much more than was offered by the earlier form, namely social networks, blogs, chat options. All these tools and utilities have concreted the relationship between the two and hence abridged the relation with in the human beings. Weather forecasts, road navigation, in past all these and many more things were subject to human interpretation and guidance, with the technology around, they are just a few touches away from on the devices that mostly occupy our hands and tables-gadgets. Older generations relied on the human factor, there was more place for values, and relationship fulfillment because there was no element of science and it’s gifted. These gifts have developed a gulf between human beings and their inter relationship. In true sense of the word, technology has made us isolated but it’s just the other way that we perceive them with reliance on the digital interface. Hence it’s a blend of many factors that has over taken the conventional form of relationship between the human beings and introduced a new concept known as technology. Steve Jobs, more than anyone else, is responsible for todays digi tech culture. Discuss. If the modern day aero plane is gift of Wright Brothers, Electricity gift of ,,,,,(Reference) mobile phones in its present state are sheer gift of one person who is known by many names. The innovator, entrepreneur, and a visionary man -Steve jobs. In the field of computers and technology, two names are always mentioned in the field of computers and technologies. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs has over taken him by the mere fact that his ideas were full of innovation, creativity, and customer oriented principles. “I came, I Saw, I Conquered” (Isaacson, 2011). Steve Jobs outcastes his competitors and any individual rival by the element of continuous struggle, the highs and lows of career and living up to the demands and expectations of the customers who always sought innovation and new ideas which they were familiarized with through the introduction of his products and services. Steve Jobs truly brought about revolution in the manner in which mobile phones exist today. His services and mastery is not just limited to the modern day concepts, rather the mega products produced by Apple Inc, are fruit of the seeds he sow. From early days of work in garage to days of Attari development his motivation was enormous and never gave up despite the odds. The colored screened monitors that we see today are another gift of the genius. While earlier computers were run by Command Line Interfaces (C.L.I), Apple with help of Steve Jobs colorized the view of computers and introduced Graphic Line Interface (G.L.I). So his contributions are not just that of mobile phone, rather it can be said that the Plasma screens which followed the Cathode Ray Tube based monitors. On the mobile phone front, the touch screen revolution can rightly be named as the brain child of Apple and Steve Jobs geniuses. Gone are the days when bulky and key pad oriented mobile phones would occupy large spaces in pockets and in bags. Sleek designs oriented and without keypad mobile phones are the order of the day and no one else but Steve Jobs takes the credit for this contribution. It was with in starting years of new millennium when I Phone 3 introduced new form of mobile interface in form of complete touch screens. The recent I phone 5 released is all due to the idea and contribution of the mastermind. While most of the operations were conducted on standard 14 and 15 inch screens, Steve jobs introduced an ingenious item in the name of I-Pad. A tablet in itself, a proper computer that fulfils the needs that in past would be fulfilled by a computer bulky enough to cover the entire table. Unfortunately the great man did not get to live longer to see the future trends, yet he paved the way for the future concepts and even after an year of his sad demise, Apple Inc. is riding over success journey courtesy the vision, ideology and innovative ventures of the man. Hence it can be rightly said that he is largely responsible for the current form of technology. Face book is popular, but is it significant? Discuss. Face book, besides the technology and being a social networking site, the word itself is a ubiquity. The sparkling thing about this social networking sight is the fact that it’s not just limited to teenagers, it has large amount of following from the grownups, mid 40s and many others. The significance can be measured and imagined by the fact that it is one of the world’s most visited website and has fan following from all parts of the world. It won’t be any exaggeration to say that this website and the company has re shaped the manner in which communications were being conducted before. Close associations, re connecting with lost friends, making many more through the new platform are few of the features that define this application. Face book is not just limited to the casual manner of interaction; it is one of the powerful emerging companies that have shown lots of promise in terms of stocks and revenues (Kirkpatrick, 2012). Face book has its benefits and advantages in number of ways. The first being source of constant contact between the people. Add on features include, chats, video sharing, and many more features. It is significant in many ways, especially when it comes to privacy and security settings. While other social networking sites might not allow limitation of access to strangers and anonymous users, face book provides all the options in the book which would make an individual user totally safe. The website is equally a breast with the changes needed. Time line is one of those features that has been added recently and has added more crisp to the browsing and usage of social networking website. The bitter rivalry with other similar sites is a sign of its presence as a market lead. Presence of large number of social activists and other creational sources have made it ever so significant and have given rise to positive activities amongst the youth. Another significant point of Face book along with other similar sites is its usage as a platform for discussions, debates and awareness about many aspects that would be otherwise hidden under the carpet. Through the cross sectional sharing functions and walls visibility it enables getting to know many new things which people are not familiar with. Presence of an array of communities ranging from education to recreation to gardening to engineering, all forms of communities and expertise opinions can be found on face book. The presence of large number of advertisers on the face book pages speaks of its popularity, success and significance. Hence, it is not just about the number and the ever unshrinking list of followers, it is quality, variety and specialty in its own right that gives it an edge past others and also makes it very vibrant and significant.
