I learned why businesses use spreadsheets and how they can benefit a business. An organization always needs to be one step of the game, so showing figures and making forecasts using spreadsheets allows a business to see exactly where they are.
Key business decisions can be made from the information derived from a spreadsheet, so this is why the figures must be accurate. If I was in charge of a firm, I would make sure that the employees knew what targets we needed to hit on the spreadsheet. Ideally, key information like this would be presented to employees every week so they would know where the business was and where it needed to be. I now realize just how important spreadsheets are in business situations.
