My greatest assets that would help me in achieving my goals are the legal, BIT knowledge and IT that I have acquired and refined over time. Furthermore, my personal skills as a researcher and as an analyst can also be utilized in enhancing my career and in helping me be in a position from where I would be able to help implement the basics of BIT in development projects. Identification of career goals: My career goals can be classified into two basic categories short-term and medium-term. I have my short-term goals simple, straightforward and related to my education. My basic idea is to graduate from the University of Salford with flying colors and move on to the next phase of my studies. The next phase of my studies is concerned with obtaining a master's degree in Advanced Computer Science and IT Management. At the moment, I have not decided on which university I would apply to but I know for sure that the university I would apply to would be in U.K. Once I achieve my short-term goals I would shift my focus to my medium-term goals. My medium-term goals are related to my professional career and objectives that I would aim for during my professional career. Once I obtain my master's degree I would try and gain entry into public service where I would have a chance to work for the betterment of the community. Using the knowledge that I develop during my years as a student I would develop policies that would help in the implementation of public programs and would also aid in the efficient management of employees. Module where I have achieved success: Of all the modules that I have studied so far at the university, I have had a great deal of success with Dynamic Web Development and Advanced Web Design modules. One of the main reasons why these modules came so easily to me is because prior to my studies at University of Salford I worked as websites designer. Skills that I learned there greatly helped me with my understanding of the course and the lectures being given by my tutors. Areas of interest: One of my greatest interests has been regarding social media websites. I have always maintained an account on some of the top social networking websites over the past few years. Through these websites, I have been able to reach a number of individuals and learned how to optimize my profiles. Through the use of social networking websites, I would be able to increase my online prominence and be able to promote various websites and blogs that would relate to my background and would provide vital information about my qualifications and skills. An online identity that requires amendment: Currently, I have a number of accounts on various social media websites. The most prominent and frequently social networking websites that I use are Facebook, twitter, Google+ and YouTube. The first task that I was carrying out is that I had to review the content on each of these profiles. The content that I would review would be the pictures I have posted, skills, languages, and education details that I have listed. I would ensure that all content posted on these profiles is unique in nature and can be easily sought after. In addition, I have also created profiles on social networking websites such as LinkedIn and Flicker. These are two social networking websites on which I still have to form a profile. By creating a profile on these websites I would be able to further increase my online identity and provide information about myself in greater detail. In addition to, I was even able to book a domain on WordPress with the name www.turkialqurashi.com. Upon obtaining a domain I started working on creating a blog for myself and made a number of entries within that blog. Finally, I connected my blog with my social networking websites which helps me generate a great deal of traffic onto my blog and social media profiles. Implementation Planning and Documentation Description of the project: The blog that I have created using the domain reserved on WordPress would be used to post topics I have written on a particular topic on BIT. Each time I would post a new topic that would be related to BIT. The knowledge that I have gained over the years while studying at University of Salford would greatly aid me in this task. In addition I would also study the literature that is available online regarding the topic. The topics posted would be written in simple English so that they can be easily understood by everyone. Furthermore, I would try and avoid using technical terms as much as possible to ensure that individuals who are not related to the field of BIT could also understand the topic with ease. With each post the topics would get more and more advanced and would eventually discuss work that is currently being carried out in the field of BIT. Once an article is written it would then be scanned using certain SEO tools that would help detect the number of keywords used and help determine the rank that it would achieve. Once a satisfactory rank is obtained I would post the article on the blog and publicize it using all the social media profiles I had refined earlier on. Visitors that would read my blogs would also be given the option to post comments and their opinions of what they think about the content of the blog. The comments would act as feedbacks and would help me spot the areas I am weak in. The basic idea of writing a blog is basically to help me demonstrate my learning and research skills that I have developed over time. The demonstration of these skills would help figure an individual out the level of understanding of BIT I have developed with time. Inspiration: I was greatly inspired by Seth Godin. Godin is one of the leading experts on marketing and is famous for his entrepreneurship. In 1995 Godin came up with the idea of Yoyodyne that helped various organizations come up with interactive games and activities to promote their products. Yoyodyne was a huge success for Godin. Godin, however, became prominent after he launched his blog. Through his blog, he started sharing a number of his marketing concepts around the globe and after a certain point even started generating a great deal of money from it. Tools required for the development of the project: Professional planning is a project that heavily relies on rank. Rank can be improved with the use of some special keywords and can even be improved with the use of some SEO techniques. SEOBook tools provide a number of tools that would help analyze the ranking of my blog and provide more tools that would help with the selection of unique keywords and can even help generate unique keywords. Adwords and sponsored links may be added to the blog, in the long run, to help improve its ranking. Gantt chart: UML diagrams: Steps taken to develop the project: Initially the analysis of the task assigned was carried out under which I came up with numerous ideas and developed a number of solutions that would aid in the completion of the task at hand. In order to choose the best solution to the problem I then carried out a feasibility study under which I took into account factors such as the time a solution would take and the money required in developing the solution. After choosing the best solution I moved on to assessing my online social profiles under which I refined my friends list, basic information that I had provided and statuses I had updated. Once I completed the refinement of my profiles on social networking websites I created my blog using the domain I reserved on WordPress. Once the blog was created I chose a topic related to BIT, collected information on that topic and wrote an article. I then used SEO tools to ensure that the blog achieved a high rank on search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. Finally I posted the link to my blog on all the social media profiles I had. Decisions and choices made regarding the project: After understanding the task at hand I thought of a number of ways with which I could achieve the desired result. However, a number of those methods were either expensive or required a great deal of time for completion. After analysing my options I decided to approach the task in two main ways that is through social media and through the maintenance of a blog. Upon further research I found that a number of individuals around the world have gained fame and recognition by blogging on topics related to their fields. It was there that I decided to use blog as a tool to demonstrate my knowledge understanding of BIT and increase my online presence. Actions taken around the website: One of the main supporting actions that were concerned with the project was regarding its budget. I had to be very careful while developing the estimated cost for the budget and I had to ensure that the budget was enough to cover all the expenses. The timeline of the project was created using MS project. To help with SEO of the blog I used tools that were offered by SEOBooks. These tools helped me create and include keywords in the content that I wrote for my blog and scanned to check where exactly it ranked my blog in the search results. With the help of the tools I was able to analyse the status of my blog and whether or not it had enough keywords to be ranked within the first few search results in search engines. Creativity and originality Professional planning as a creative solution: Through project professional planning not only would I be able to increase my online presence but would also be able to demonstrate my concepts on BIT to others. If a company was to search for my name and check out my profile online then, along with my credentials, it would also be able to get a preview of my understanding of BIT. Moreover through this blog I would be able to generate a number of individual’s interest towards BIT. Originality of the idea: The idea is not an original one and has been executed by a number of individuals over the internet. However, the idea has proven to present itself with positive results and with time those who have implemented such an idea have been able to obtain a great deal of recognition within their respective fields over time. With proper planning and a little hard work there is hope that this project would yield the same beneficial results for me over time. Sustainability plan Sustainability after project deadline: Sustainability of this project is not a matter of a great issue. Selecting a topic related to BIT and collecting information on the topic would not be a problem and would hardly take hour. Writing on the topic would also be easy as I have a great deal of understanding of topics related to BIT. Once the article is completed I would scan the topic and check to see if there are sufficient keywords within the post, which again in itself is not a time consuming process. Posting the blog post on social media profiles would not take more than a few seconds. The entire process of collecting information, writing a blog post and improving its ranking takes no more than an hour. With the ease at which the entire process is executed I could easily maintain the project over a long period of time. Mechanisms implemented to ensure sustainability: I have decided to post at least two articles on the blog every week and ensure that my online profiles are regularly monitored and edited accordingly. The basic aim of maintaining these online profiles is to ensure that they provide a professional look to my image. In addition these profiles will act as a platform through which I would promote my blog and hence it is vital that they seem proper accordingly. I have planned to write these articles and post them on the blog during the weekend and once the blog gains significant popularity it could be used to market the products and services of various companies. Realistic approach of the project: The project provides a great deal of benefit to final year honours degree student. First of all it helps final year students refine their online presence which is a huge benefit for those who are applying to pursue a career in their respective field. Companies now days search the names of individuals applying for a position at their company. Candidates that have a professional look on their online social networking profiles and have a prominent presence online provide that candidate with an edge over all other applicants. Secondly students can mention in their resume about the project. Since their project is operational even when they graduate it and are applying to various companies for a job they could mention the project in their resume to demonstrate their skills. Thirdly through such projects students can learn how they can make money online by sharing their knowledge. Finally by properly working on their sustainability individuals can even turn their projects into a full time business. There are a number of examples over the Internet who started small projects and went on to convert those projects into multimillion-dollar businesses. Moreover, when talking about project professional planning it also benefits students by helping them post any queries they have regarding any topic in BIT.
