? Cyber Ethics Essay The moral issues surrounding the copyright issues and the internet downloading off material copyrighted toindividuals gas been under great debate over a long period of time. The focus of this essay will be centered on the argumentative approaches that support the fact that the ethics regarding to the matters has both its pros and cons when viewed from the educative and economical paradigm. The topics under discussion are the downloading of songs (copyrighted and patented music content) and online published books or e-books. The idea of downloading these materials is considered illegal in the technological environment. On the other hand ethics in the society would argue that downloading of these materials is legitimate to some level and is considered right since it serves the society in an advantageous way through offering education. The revolution of the internet has seen the need for the multiple millions of online users to gain access to information (Palfrey, 2009). Cyber ethics are divided and different in different countries around the world. The involvement of the worldwide governments in the internet age is important in bridging the gap to information access. Do not think an interested, talented and passionate music artist, or a bright, intelligent genius individual should be denied access to information or material that would help them better their talents or improve on their research skills (Palfrey, 2009). One instance of this is exemplified by the Google’s YouTube website which restricts the viewing of Videos to certain locations around the globe. This is a perfect example of denial of access to information. One would argue that, just because they are located on different remote locations around the world they should not be denied access to something that would enlighten their knowledge. The internet should be subsidized or free in expenditure, if not now then in few decades to come. The new digital technology made accessible through networked links has enabled internet users have access to products of consumption and enabled ecommerce participant to be efficient in advertising and distribution of goods and services on offer. The internet by itself possesses a threat through malicious hackers and attackers who are after stealing information from individual computers. The decisions made by every single user (students) regarding the use of copyrighted material are dependent on the ownership of the particular service or good (material). Let us say, for example, one user legally purchases an artist’s album form ITunes or for the accredited stores. Well, after purchase ownership changes (Palfrey, 2009). One would argue form the above example that after the transfer of ownership after purchase of the good, the owner has all the right to do anything they want with the material they bought or purchased. The social norms and laws give the understanding for this notion. Is it questionably wrong or illegitimate to lend a friend an e-book or an album I purchased with my own funds? I do not think so. This is one of the debatable facts regarding the morals of downloading material form the internet and copy updating through pasting from one user PC to the other PC. Downloading songs over the internet has been revolutionized to the extent there is a negligible number of artist who sell tangible albums for their audio songs on sale. Sales and marketing of commodities is being carried out on the internet in major abundance. The demand on the other hand is high, bringing the idea of online piracy to supplement the high demand for the needed material. The advantage of gaining access to information is that one derives the satisfaction of getting something thy want at a particular time and the preferred way they need it. It is majority human nature not to buy a song if they know where they can get one for free. The need for access to information, knowledge, and culture are central to human freedom and human development towards future access to technology and accurate information. How the already researched information are designed or produced and exchanged in our society through interactive processes of gaining right to use of certain information is essential. This critically affects the way one views the state of the global domain as it is and might be in decades and centuries to come. Individuals who resolve these impending argumentative queries and depict how all the folks in the societies and technological adapted organizations come to comprehend what can be done or ought to be done. In a setting where the flexibility of digital technology makes innovative practices of delivery and creation possible through research is known to benefit any society. Notably, it is necessarily legal that all the technology users be knowledgeable about their accountabilities and rights with respect to digital media. Ignorance has led to the various legal actions on individuals, with repercussions leading to fines and jail terms. Importantly, the earlier in every technology user’s life that they get well conversant with technology, especially the young and upcoming, that they become more knowledgeable and better informed about the legalities of the digital world in which they function. This will enable them, support them and guide them at being more empowered about the content they access over the internet and the numerous legal conformities set on the online resources (Vesna & Nivedhitha, 2012). The individuals who engage in illegitimate behavior on the internet, such as an simple and exemplary illegal peer-to-peer music downloading, mostly observed through the use of torrents, are mostly likely to turn it into an habit for gaining access to copyrighted information (music or songs). These social norms are therefore nonetheless demonstrated an awareness in the rights and existence of creators. Structuring on the conclusions of the separation between technical, permissible or legal laws, and the communal norms as relating to copyright law is crucial. Individuals depict their first points of the growth of an enlightening intermediation that advances scholars as creators of new and advanced technology. This is noted in the Creative Rights copyright curriculum. Teaching youth about patent and copyright laws is significant for enabling young people as to pose as best and artistic performers in society (Vesna & Nivedhitha, 2012). This is inclusive of both the terms of their aptitude to contribute to the educational knowledge adapted from previously conducted research that promotes awareness. This in turn supplements student creativity and practices promoted towards engaging them with the laws that administrate the society. My thought for I would argue and agreeably conform to be that the teaching of patent or copyright laws should not be simply to discourage and limit illegal use of content, in this case scenario the music downloads, but must also designate the creative undertakings the law is intended to enable in the digital globe. The schooling of copyright law necessarily should both empower the upcoming and fast growing youth to operate legally in the digital workspace or globe, and additionally involve them in being thoughtful about the significance of creativity and culture in society. This will go a long way in ensuring security of information according to copyright laws enacted while protecting the end users from the long arms of the law (Palfrey, 2009). Young developing individuals are supposed to be taught how the patent and copyright regulations are aimed at securing the precise and similar benefits of inventors and authors of the notions that digital natives or owners are concerned about. Moreover, the young folks are to be informed and educated on the inclined issues and be positively encouraged to take a lively role in the creation and re-creating of their own philosophy regarding to the use of technology. I believe, for example, an upcoming artist (musical artist) who is sharpening their skills and talents based on access to digital information will always need the resources in that particular field to achieve their goal or objective of their talents and practices (Vesna & Nivedhitha, 2012). Thus I would positively argue that the need for access information is ethical and sounds moral towards promoting and improvising one’s educative knowledge. It is important to note the society we are living in and accept the digital swiftness and fast growth of technology. The prominence on the privileges of people to create content through deriving it from using others’ work as a reference aids them in the empowerment of learners to share their voice, ideologies, ideas, views and profile their own principles in the global society. This is seeing the growth on liberal ways that are revolutionizing access to information. Soon accessibility to information will be on the internet promoted by the activists fighting for the freedom on the internet. Subsequently, this will that and take an active role in the construction of knowledge (Palfrey, 2009). The use of technology laws set in place in protecting digital material owners’ against cybercrime promotes proprietorship is the society through marketing an artist’s work while at the same time educating the societies on laws and legalities put in place to protect that particular technology. It’s morally wrong to illegally download one’s material off the internet since these advocates for laziness and lack of creativity among the young individuals in the society. The work hard ethic is imposed on goals set are lost if one has to access information or a material free of charge all the time (Vesna & Nivedhitha, 2012). Conclusively, innovative individuals in the society should be accredited for their exceptional work done and be supported all the way in protecting their ideas and implemented programs. The originators of ideas well deservedly should be the ones the ones to benefit from their own exceptional ideas implemented in the society. The idea of a mean individual using another individual’s idea for personal and selfish financial gain, for example, piracy of downloaded music for sale; this is not an ethical deed thus should be fought and prohibited actively through laws and regulations that protect the digital material.
