?Computing Project’s Proposal VOIP and its usage in Medical Alert Systems Number: Email Address: Project Proposal Submission Date: June 28, 2013 Version Number of the Proposal:V.04 DA Class ID: Computer Forensics CKIT519 Name of DA: RMT Class ID: Name of GDI: Ethical Checklist Completed: Yes Name of SSM: The Program: Domain: Information Technology Proposal approved by: Date of the approval: Verification of the Proposal's Domain: Sponsor's Details: Sponsor's Background: Sponsor's Agreement: The Project Aims and Objectives: In the current information system there are some flaws that have turned to be very expensive to the people who are affected by delay of information in the medical fields which translate to deaths. Already, there are different things that have been put in place to ensure that information is transmitted efficiently from one person to another with the hospital to save situations in emergencies. However, some situations have led to lack of the information getting to the target due to lack on internet connection in different places on the earth which are difficult to contain. The proposal targets to be an alternative to the flawy systems of data transmission that have caused delays, loss and less efficiency of the data getting to the target at the right time. In some cases, people have failed to access the digital data that is sent through a VOIP system and therefore, the data they sent remain irrelevant because it does not get the immediate attention from the target receiver. This creates a necessity to come up with system that will ease the transmission of data across the system and ensure that the target receive can get it quickly and be in a position to respond to it to rescue the life of patients. The purpose of the proposal is to develop a system that will help people to transmit data from one point to another and ensure that it will be accessed by the target population at the earliest opportunity by developing a signal system that will help people to receive the information immediately it is sent. To accomplish the requirement of this, the proposal will develop a model that will demonstrate the workability of a signal that will inform the receiver of the data they expect to get immediately they receive. The model will include an system of electronic device that will transmit an electromagnetic waves to the devices they use or mobile devices connected to configured to receive the signal. Project Outline: Assessment of the technology of used in communication I will carry out out a careful analysis of the existing systems in the medical care communication and point out the various areas that have weaknesses which cause them to be inefficient in communication. Seeking the approval to carry out the project from relevant authorities At this level I will visit the ministry of health and elaborate the different challenges they get to communicate and present the project proposal about how the inefficiencies can be reduced and therefore, I will seek their approval to develop a system of communicating effectively. Seeking for funds To accomplish the goals for the project, financial resources will be required to procure the different materials that are required in the implementation and to cater for transport and to pay for some labour at different stages of the implementation. I will look for a sponsor to fund the things that I will require to be able to easily achieve the project. Assembling At this stage, I will assemble different pieces of the system to come up with software, install it in the model devices and configure the devices to ensure transmission of the information is attained. Presentation and demonstration After assembling, I will seek a chance to demonstrate the workability of the system to my supervisor and have his feedback about the system and I will note his recommendations. Improvement of the system After presentation to the different groups, I will note their recommendation on the ways to increase effectiveness of the system and implement them to ensure that it will be able to fit properly to its purposes. Final presentation After making amendments recommended, I will finally present the ready-to-use system to my supervisor which will have factored in all the recommendations he made in the demonstration stage. Literature Survey / Resources’ List: Blecker, Thorsten & Gerhard, (2006). Customer Interaction and Customer Integration. s.l.:GITO mbH Verla.: This book analyses the different struggles through which the communicators pass and the difficulties of communicating without necessarily having internet connection. Freescale, (2008). Embedded VoIP for Commercial and Industrial Applications, s.l.: s.n.: The information contained in this document shows how VoIP has been used in communicating in business circles and important the technology can be to the people in the health in making medical alert system. Gawande, A., (2008). Bandwidth’s Role in Helping Healthcare Organizations Improve Efficiency and Reduce Costs. Frontier White Paper, p. 4.: Gawande evaluates the different circumstances that surround the healthcare and makes some observation that lead him to recommend different things to be done to help increase the efficiency in communication to save lives of patients. The piece of literature shows the ways that can be evaluated to improve the implementation of the project to come up with a medical alert system. Horowitz, B. T., (2012). Cloud VOIP Faxing Lives On In Health Care With FAXCOM Anywhere, s.l.: QuinStreet. Inc.: This document has been used to explain the different methods of communications within the health sector and evaluated the need to improve them so that participation of workers can be easy. The book draws insight into the weaknesses of the different methods of communications within the medical sector and the different strategies that can be used to deliver information to people with efficiency. NEC, (2005). A HealthyDose of Convergence, s.l.: Baseline and CIO Insights magazines.: The magazine describes the communication that can take place within the practitioners in the medical sector and has cited the failures that have happened in the practice meaning it offered a challenge for the medical sector to improve. Scholarly Contributions of the Project: This proposal will use the medical communication to implement a system of transmission calls from one individual to another to ensure that all the people are in a position to respond easily to emergency calls. The project will therefore, be implemented with the understanding the required in the transmission of data and the need to communicate efficiently to different individuals so that operations and medical care can be made efficient and save life of individuals. In the implementation of a VOIP medical alert in different hospitals, lives of people will be saved because it will eliminate any form of negligence to the communication. The doctors and other practitioners will be in a position to communicate different messages to their colleagues within a short time and seek support when there are needs in the hospital to come up with a system that will deal amicably with emergency cases. Description of the Deliverables: Software will be developed and installed in different VoIP communication devices that will be configured to transmit the data pass data across each other. Evaluation Criteria: The success of the software developed and installed in different devices will be evaluated on its ability to ensure transmission of data without necessarily needing internet connection and transmitting data to far distances and with efficiency. The efficiency of the project will be determined by reduction of the un-communicated emergency cases and the reduction in the number of cases of people who die because of lack of attention from doctors that are not occupied in other activities. Resource Plan: One computer US$ 500 One mobile device US$ 150 Internet Connectivity US$ 500 Network Cables US$ 200 Miscellaneous US$300 Project Plan and Timing: The project will take place four step Step One: Software Design which is expected to take three weeks and will be the first part of the project Step two: Installing the software on the devices that are targeted to transmit data and which should take two days and will ensure that communication is possible through the devices. This will be accomplished in the fourth week on the 23rd day of the project Step three: Establishing a router to communicate to different devices aware from the network which will take one week and which will ensure that the first receiving gadget can receive the data. This will be accomplished on the thirtieth day of the project and will ensure that the way of transmission of data is in place. Step four: Configuring the devices which is planned to take two days. This process will entail ensuring that required devices can transmit the data to each other and the testing of the distances of transmission of data across distances. Configuration process will take the place within the 31st and 32nd day of the project and it will set the project to be in action to ensure all people can communicate efficiently. Risk Assessment: The major challenge in the whole project is making a software to link the two devices and ensuring that the calls to a specific device do not miss the target Quality Assurance: To guarantee success of this project, the project steps will be carried out one by one under supervision of my supervisor to ensure that it is successful and there are no flaws and therefore, to proceed to the next step will depend on his approval.
