Database Research What is a database? Give examples. A database refers to a set of data and information which is structured in order that it can simply be accessed, controlled, and simplified. So a database is a collection of data planned and organized in a particular manner. Additionally, databases can also be organized along with forms of information such as text and pictures etc. For example a company can use database to store information of customers and employees. In addition, different kinds and developers of computer databases exist around the world. In this scenario, a few well-known examples are mySql, Oracle, and Microsoft's Access (Ober) and (Ward). What is a transactional or online transactional processing database? Give examples Databases have to frequently permit the concurrent dispensation of SQL instructions to complete electronic commerce and additional time-intensive functions. This kind of processing is acknowledged as online transaction processing (OLTP). In addition, the OLTP is customized to maintain business transactions similar to product order processing, handling and managing supply, worker payroll and turnout information. However, the basic job of OLTP systems is to effectively process huge amount of parallel businesses transactions in quick manner. Moreover, well-known examples of OLTP databases are air-line ticketing arrangements and banking transaction frameworks (Chapple), (Power and Power) and (Microsoft.). What is the main purpose of an online analytical processing database? The main purpose of OLAP is to create multidimensional computations of transactions, which facilitate the medium and large size companies to complete their business tasks within seconds. Additionally, by using this database framework, the user is able to control quickly the large collection of options. Moreover, the Online Analytical Processing databases facilitate users to evaluate diverse scopes of multidimensional information and data. For instance, it offers the capabilities of trend analysis and time series analysis. Furthermore, the OLAP capabilities are frequently implemented in data mining field (RoseIndia) and (Webopedia). What are the three possible environments that exit for a database? Please explain. The DBMS is considered to be a vital element of the database environment. This environment as well comprises diverse kinds of software applications and hardware, community who carry out diverse roles inside the database environment, actions developed to achieve preferred tasks, and business data. The data comprise the database's decisive element through which business data and information is produced. Normally, there exist three environments of a database which include data and database administrators, system developers and end users (eHolyQuran). What affect would business rules have on the design of a database? Business rules greatly affect day to day business decisions since they describe entities, related attributes, associations and diverse types of constraints. However, they are generally utilized for the company which keeps business data for the implementation of a business strategy, business rules, processes, or else standards. In addition, they as well permit the developers to recognize business procedures, and the environment, responsibility and possibility of the business data and information. In this way business rules would have greater impact on database design because they serve as a communication contrivance between developers and the users of database. Hence companies can observe that business rules offer the appropriate arrangement of entities, their attributes, relationships among entities, and checks over business data (Wikia). What is the purpose of requirement analysis? The general purpose of requirements analysis is to collect each piece of data and information required to develop a database of optimal functionality which fulfills the informational requirements of a company. In addition, the process of requirements analysis is considered as an imperative and extremely laborious phase within the DBLC (database development life cycle). Moreover, the majority of database designers start requirements analysis phase by probing the current database to create a structure for the residual functions (RelationalDBDesign). What makes up a good design? The database design development process mainly comprises 2 types of data frameworks: object-based framework and record-based framework. In this scenario, an object-based data framework offers good design because it makes use of entities, attributes of entities, and associations among entities to provide the information. On the other hand, the entity-relationship (E-R) model is an instance of an object-based data framework and has appeared as an imperative and extensively employed method. Additionally, it outlines the business data in the shape of an E-R (entity relationship) diagram. Moreover, a superior database design is achieved when observed through the perception of the client, the end-user, the database management staff, and administration (DSSBooks) and (Stephens and Plew). What is the purpose of a mission statement? Mission statements are officially printed declarations of the key principle of a company or any other form of business. In a number of scenarios, a mission statement is fairly short and simple. In many cases, a mission statement is perhaps lengthy and rather more comprehensive. In addition, the precise formation of the statement will hinge on the form of business outlining the document, and the motive for the company’s survival. Moreover, the mission statement provides the foundation for the remaining paper, and facilitates to express the application of the additional features incorporated inside the content of the statement (Tatum). What is a relational database? A relational database contains a set of tables to keep specific group of related data and information. In this way the creation of this database system has normalized the method by which that data and information is stored, accessed and shared. Moreover, a relational database is able to hold one or more of these relations, through every table containing an exclusive collection of columns and rows (Powell). What is a work plan? A work plan is helpful to outline troubles within the office, and enhance workers awareness and attention. They are frequently confined to 6 to 12 months, while there is not a specific deadline. In other words, a work plan is a typical company’s administration tool for scheduling functions during a specific period (Shiota). Works Cited Chapple, Mike.
