Concerns have been raised of the need to have a strategic plan within the mile stones youth organization. This idea emanates from the various drawbacks that the organization has been facing over the years as far the efficient and effective achievement of its goals is concerned. The milestones youth organization is an organization that aims at nurturing the potential of the youth. It also aids the youths in cultivating their creativity, innovativeness, talents, skills, networking and how youths can live up to become dependable individuals within the society. In this work the current status of the organization is highlighted, objectives of the organization and where and how it aims at achieving success. Significant importance of strategic planning processes is reflected in this paper which forms the basis of a successful organization. Pre-planning phase In the recent years the miles stones has been experiencing quite a lot difficulties as far as the achievement of the goals and objectives is concerned. Currently this problem is still reflected in the mile stones youth organization. As much as the management of the organization has tried to implement ways through which the issue may be solved it has not been successful (Hubbard, Morkel, Davenport, and Beamish, 2000). The major reason behind this failure lies in the fact that the organization focuses more on what has already taken place rather than trying to come up with ways of dealings with anticipated future difficulties. Therefore, the need for a strategic plan arises. The mile stone youth organization is experiencing a variety of problems. To begin with the organization lacks the capacity to manage well its finances. A lot of finances are going to waste since they are being channeled to courses that do not have the future of organization at heart. This is due to the fact that it is not able to meet unforeseen financial challenges as most of it is inappropriately utilized without proper planning. Certain issues arise regarding the management within the organization. This relate to matters of communication from the top management team down to the subordinate staff. The top level management within the organization fails to consult and engage the employee in making decisive decisions bound to have an impact to the entire operation of the organization (Haley and George 2000, p. 215). Eventually the organization has been failing to meet some of its goals and objectives due to this problem of inefficient communication. The organization is neither able to identify nor recognize avenues or rather opportunities through which it may be able to address such issues regarding the youth. This makes it to be incapacitated to fully carry out its responsibilities within the society (Allison and Kaye 2005, p.56). There are dangers that arise within the organization relating to manner in which resources are utilized. The organization is not a position to identify the risk involved as far as the distribution of resources to various courses is concerned. This is the root cause of the inability of the organization to meet future risks in timely manner. The entire plan of goal achievement of mile stone organization does not reflect a substantial degree of viability. It has been turned down by a number of sponsors in the pretext that some of its objectives are not well defined thus posing a risk of inappropriate use of funds Allison and Kaye 2005, p.57). Potential sponsors are thus not able to offer assistance to the organization as most of its objectives are not at all concerned on how the organization is bound to survive and be of great benefit to the society without locking out itself from some of the responsibilities it is supposed to perform. Strategic planning phase Miles stone organization indicates that all its problems that it experiences directly relates to the achievement of its future goals. The only way that the organization can be able to meet its goals within a given time frame and with ease is through the creation of strategic plan that will ensure that all operations and processes within the organization connect for the achievement of the organizational goals. Therefore the strategic plan that has the ability to ensure that mile stone youth organization achieves its purpose is the goal-based strategic plan (Thompson, Arthur and Strickland 2003, p. 345). With such a strategic plan in the organization measures are bound to be put in place geared towards meeting future challenges as the future of the organization is as well crucial as the present. It is the desire of the organization to make its employees have a sense of belonging in order to gain their trust, loyalty and commitment. Therefore showing employees that their contributions are generally crucial to well being of the organization is the key to improved staff performance which mile stone youth organization desires (Allison and Kaye 2005, p.57). A strategic plan will give the organization the organization the ability to be able to discern opportunities whenever they present themselves and be able to exploit them. Prospective challenges that the organization may face in future may also be easily known. It follows that it will be able to have proper management of its finances and know how to work out things so as to come up with definitive ways of dealing with the challenges even before they arise (Allison and Kaye 2005, p.56). Business/ operational phase In order for the miles stone youth organization to achieve success and realize its set goals its set goals a strategic plan is of great necessity. It will ensure that the organization is able to achieve its objectives in a timely manner and with ease. A lot of benefits accrue from having such a plan such as the organization will be in a position to plan for program activities for the youths and create quite a good reputation within its environment (Drucker and Peter 1990, p.62). The aspect of nurturing the youth for a worthy course will be facilitated making it achieve its key purpose of ensuring a better life for the youths. A life with no engagement in criminal activities, immorality, drugs among other inappropriate behaviors that have the capacity of destroying the youth. By the organization having well defined objectives which identifies and gives importance to the future of the organization it will be easier for it to obtain funds from people with a willing heart o support its worthy course (Drucker and Peter 1990, p.62). This is due to the fact that matters of accountability and how money will be spent within the organization are not ignored and are included within the strategic plan. It with no doubt that sponsors will not hesitate to chip in funds if the organization puts its in black and white what its vision and mission are and how it is prepared to achieve its objectives and in a logical and realistic way. Basically, a strategic plan puts the organization on toes due to the existence of other similar organizations that lead to a competitive atmosphere. Competition is an issue that needs to be considered if the organization is to acquire funds from well-wishers. Other organizations with different goals and of a similar structure need funds making the organization to work towards better performance in line with transforming lives and portraying an admirable reputation in the eyes of their sponsors who may even offer to provide more support. Therefore, a strategic plan will give the mile stone youth organization an opportunity to gain competitive advantage and more recognition in the society for its worthy course (Thompson, Arthur and Strickland 2003, p. 350). It is with doubt that the mile stone youth organization is bound achieving more if the management is properly carried out. This is a very important aspect that forms the core of success within mile stone youth organization relating to the manner in which management is carried out (Thompson, Arthur and Strickland, 2003). A properly managed organization is bound to achieve its core mission to meet its objectives, have an impact on the society as well as provide stable and sustainable job opportunities for its employees. Retrospective commentary There are quite important aspects that I have gained knowledge in from this research. To begin with it has become clear that a strategic plan forms the core of the realization of goals and objectives within any given organization (Thompson, Arthur and Strickland, 2003). It demonstrates liveliness of the other organization in the middle of all odds due to the fact that greater importance is placed on the ability and capacity to identify potentials threats that may hinder survival, growth and development of the organization. Within mile stone organization and how it aims at achieving its goals a strategic plan reflects quite a high degree of importance on life of the organization. This paper reveals how much value is placed in relation to where an organization wishes to be in regards to its future. It indicates the importance of having proper management of resources may it be financial resources of human resources such that they are all coordinated and directed towards the realization of the organizations core mission goals (Mintzberg, et el, 1999). Another very important perspective that is demonstrated in relation to the knowledge of strategic planning is the fact that the plan created ensures better sustenance of the organization within its competitive world. It ensures that in all the activities that an organization undertakes prior preparations are carried which involves a process of evaluation and adequate analysis of pros and cons involved therein (Mintzberg, et el, 1999). It also demonstrates the assessment of both strengths and weaknesses that the organization has in carrying out certain activities which basically add on the organization’s prospects of achieving its goals. It is further reflected that a strategic plan shows how an organization takes charge over its future. This is due to the fact strategic planning considers and places quite great importance on the future of the organization in line with what the organization aspires to achieve. This work presents how essential it is for any given organization it is to show concerns in regards to having a better future in place (Mintzberg, et el, 1999). There are reasons that solely indicate how important a strategic plan for an organization is to secure a good future. Firstly, a strategic plan reflects a clear and comprehensive definition of the vision, mission and goals of the organization. It shows where the organization wants to be in future and the path that it can follow to attain the position it so desires within the environment in which it operates (Mintzberg, et el, 1999). Secondly, a strategic plan ensures that the management process within the organization is executed with both efficiency and effectiveness since it forms the core of all the supervisory endeavors of the organization. Thirdly a strategic plan provides the entire organization with the opportunity to make aware to all parties concerned about the purpose and mission of the organization. It demonstrates this in the manner in which the path towards goal achievement is defined. People are able to identify with the organization and contribute positively towards its survival within a dynamic, competitive and uncontrollable environment (Grant and Robert 2003, p.498). Another point worth noting is that a strategic plan reflects what an organization values as important and would offer support a way of benefiting itself and the people within its environment and also what it does not support that proves to be quite detrimental to its existence and to the people in the environment in which it operates. Basically strategic planning may be viewed as a reflector of the future of the organization with players and resources in place to achieve the set organizational objectives. This hypothetical research reveals quite a number of concepts that relate to overall planning process within any given organization. Most essentially, it includes necessity of ensuring that organizations no matter their nature come up with plans that can work and which directly are in line with goals of the organization (Goodstein at el 1993, p.8). If this is not the case the organization is doomed to fail and loose meaning since it is viewed as to entirely operate in deviant manner and away from the achieving its objectives. Organizational activities not being aligned with the goals of the organization makes the organization lack value and meaning for the purpose it was created for. A number of concerns have been clearly stipulated in this research that shows what an organization should considers in order to better its performance. Among the concerns that come into play is the manner in which employee motivation is cultivated in an organization (Goodstein at el 1993, p.8). As much an organization strives to focus on whether the right path is being followed for the achievement of its goals it should as well as show employees that they are equally important and valued within the organization. This may be achieved through ensuring that employees are motivated beginning from their opinions being considered in the decision making processes of the organization (Gómez-Mejía, Luis and Balkin, and Cardy 2001, p.25). They are able to have a sense of belonging and easily identify with the organization giving their full potentials for the betterment of the organization. Also there is greater need for the management of an organization to remunerate employees in a fair manner (Gómez-Mejía, Luis and Balkin and Cardy 2001, p.27). This has the effect of improving the general performance of the organization in the environment in which it operates. A concept worth noting is the idea that an organization’s management needs to spearhead the implementation process of a strategic plan within an organization (Goodstein at el 1993, p.8). There is no way employees within an organization may channel in their efforts with full potential in the path of achieving success yet the management of the organization in its dealings does not reflect the same. The management team thus bears the responsibility of ensuring that it acts in an exemplary manner motivating employees in their work linked with the attainment of success by an organization (Hellriegel, at el 2001, p.480). A lot has been learnt through out the entire paper that indicates that strategic planning forms quite a vital part within any given organization. It can therefore be said that knowledge and understanding of how an organization may strategically plan for its future should be made available to organizations by firstly through the identification of problems and issues that highly impact to the defined core mission and vision of an organization (Hellriegel, at el 2001, p.480). A logical and pragmatic plan means a promising future for an organization. In conclusion the goal-based strategic plan model for the mile stone youth organization is aimed at ensuring that the organization obtains success in the most efficient manner. It also reflects the ability of the organization to channel efforts of its employees towards working to achieve the set goals and objectives. It is indicated that the implementation of a strategic plan requires that each and every individual in an organization has to place some value on the organization and work cooperatively with one another to achieve the common organizational goals. Strategic planning therefore should be understood and perceived as the most reliable way through which an organization may move towards a positive transformation and creation of a strong foundation for its existence.
