The paper "Selection Methods in Human Resources Practice" is a brilliant example of an essay on human resources. The advantages of using a wide range of selection methods are the fact that the interviewers can be able to select the right candidates because some selection methods like group activities bring out important aspects of their weaknesses and strengths. The other advantage of using a range of selection method is that it exposes the interviewee to different circumstances as well as bringing out their best effort.

This is important to the interviewer as he/she will pick the right candidate while the interviewee will get the right job. The disadvantage of using a range of selection method is that the process is exhaustive to the interviewee and the interviewer. The other disadvantage of this method is that the interviewee will be under pressure to please the interviewer and thus impairing the natural performance of the interviewee. Selection methods will not put me off from applying for particular positions because of the following reasons.

The first reason is that different methods will act as exposure of circumstances to expect when applying for other important future positions that are of great importance to my career. The second reason is the experience that I have acquired from doing my research degree, my confidence and self-belief are much stronger as compared to when I had not done the research degree (Billsberry 46). I believe that I am more confident and stronger in group activities as a selection method because of my experience while dealing with clients in past jobs.

My research degree has also enriched my perception about different selection methods and I am thus more open to these options as compared to before. My weakness is actually my fears about the aptitude selection method because the nature of these questions is open and they may thus lead to a field that I don’t have any idea, I particularly don’t have interest in world politics and thus a weakness if asked in an aptitude test (Billsberry 45). I am currently working on my current affairs updates by increasing the time I spend on TV and current political updates like visiting Yahoo, BBC and CNN news online.
