To start with, after carrying out my career profiling and competence activities, I got results that could assist me in making the right career choice. The results indicated that I am enterprising, artistic, and social (University of Phoenix, n.d). In addition, the results also provided job options that I could explore in relation to my competencies. Further, the results provided degree options that could suit my interest effectively. These results are important because I could easily identify career and study options that matched my interests.

Of more importance understanding personal competencies can help to improve critical thinking skills. According to Moore and Parker, critical thinking is the process in which individuals can make a logically sound judgments by evaluating evidence (2012). Therefore, in understanding personal competencies, people can venture into careers where they can effectively make logical evaluations on available alternatives hence improving their critical thinking skills in the area in question. Additionally, knowing personal competence can help to evaluate arguments presented to an individual.

This is because individuals can effectively and confidently exchange ideas relating to issues they are competent about. According to Cheesebro, OConnor, and Rios, communication is the exchange of information via verbal or written forms (2010). This means that for people to effectively communicate, they must be competent on the issue they are addressing hence being able to evaluate different arguments about the subject of discussion. From the above discussion, it is evident that understanding personal competencies can help to improve critical thinking skills and evaluate arguments, aspects that are important for success in career choices.
